What the heck is PCM? Pulse Code Modulation? Too many abreviations..... Or I'm getting too old.
Sounds good but to these eyes only SOL and IMHO are recognizable! I just love you guys identifying the nuances. All cars these days are equipped with a PCM, ECM, TCM and ABS. To find out if they are working take it to your local dealer and have them hook up to your OBD. If your car doesn't have these then it's probably a POS in which case you are SOL....IMHO.![]()

Any idea what those two switches on the underside of the dash are for in the picture above?
Lots of great pictures, by the way!

My then-girlfriend used the IBM memory typewriter in about 1975 where she worked at a doctor's office. And I remember the elrctrowriter at FAA towers in that vintage and even later to communicate with center. We had a piece of equipment at my 1st duty station in the Air Force called the Format Message Composer (almost pre-computer days). We, who maintained the thing, called it the F'ing Magical Contraption. It was hooked up to a IBM Selectric that was boondoggled to a rack of electromechanical interface cards on the back that converted the mechanicals into electrical signals and then into analog data for magnetic 35mm tape. What a fun piece of crap that was. Almost as much fun as the Electro-Writers used between the Control Tower and the Command Post.
I'm so glad to hear that. It really is my highest on my very short list of dislikes. I think best to have a very low cost LED screen programmable to the preference of the user and for mph/kph display selection. Cdn/Euro compatible like the Ford Aerostar of 90s vintage. Then add parameter display for optional sensor, etc. Or just mount my smart phone in front of and obscuring the Elgin! :-)The Elgin dash in the P5 is exactly the same as the previous prototype. I was told that no changes were made because while they have a number of ideas they are waiting on road testing to actually work on refining this design further.
