Have you ever taken a look at the proposed store locations on the EM web site? I just did and was astounded at what I saw. In the Texas section they posted "Houston-Sugarland-Baytown". Baytown! Really! They have to be kidding. If you're not from this area let me clue you in. Baytown is located on the far east side of Houston. You know, the side of town that everyone who doesn't live there avoids every chance they get. Most of the natives of Baytown wouldn't drive any thing where they can't mount a gun rack across the rear window. It's nothing but refineries, chemical plants, toxic waste dumps and two bit redneck peckerwoods. I would put an Elio store in downtown Kabul before one in Baytown.

Come on Elio people, do your homework, don't just look at a map. In the Houston area I suggest Katy and Sugarland, both being among the fastest growing and most prosperous cities in the country. If you want a third store in the area the smart choice would the "The Woodlands", prosperous, middle to upper income families, tremendous growth and huge numbers of residents driving long distances into Houston to work. Plus it's on the opposite side of the city from Katy and Sugarland. These three locations would cover the north, west and southwest. The center will take care of itself. And, for god sake, forget the east side....

I've lived in this town my whole life and think I know what I'm talking about. You're welcome.

What choices have they made for your area?

Maybe they are projecting that area as one that would have a lot of buyers that need affordable transportation.

That was my first guess as well.

However, I don't think these locations are precise. Most of the dots on the map are represented by two or three cities in the listing. I think it is more likely that those cities are being listed purely to outline the general area that the retail center will be. Once the cars are closer to production and the timeline set in stone, you can bet they are gonna do some more research and find the best place. But maybe it would be worthwhile to write EM with your opinion of Bayview?

I doubt they have finalized any specific locations. I live in Hot Springs, AR and there are no stores slated for the entire state, at least not initially. I will have to gladly drive to Shreveport to pick up my Elio. If you live in the Houston area, all you may have to do is drive across town. Eventually I can see multiple locations in all major metros like Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, etc. etc. I wonder if there locations will be based on Pep Boys locations? We have one in North Little Rock, AR.

First, let me say I like Arkansas. I have friends in Hot Springs Village, Little Rock and Mt. Ida, owned a hunting cabin near Lake Ouashita, spent a lot of time there and traveled the state extensively, etc.... I toured the state a few years back driving my Miata and couldn't help but notice something. Almost no one in AR drives a two seater car. I could tour around all day and never see a sports car. At some stops locals gathered to look at it because they had never seen one. I can't explain why but that's the way is was. During racing season I'm sure you would see some sports cars in Hot Springs, but otherwise..... Maybe that's why they don't plan a store for AR. No market there?

I do recall, that the distribution centers (9)? would be no more than 900 miles apart, ( aside from the factory,- locations were not specified.
The "stores" early on had E outlining their locations. At the time I was living in S florida, Ft. Lauderdale was "the" for south Florida. (approx 40 miles from Miami), and also covered quite a bit of distance to the next. Atlanta?, Jacksonville?

I would have to respectfully disagree and wonder how long ago you drove your Miata around the state? There are sports cars around and lots of motorcycle riders as well. I think the reason no initial stores is because of the low population of the state. Houston, Dallas, San Antonio each have as many people as the entire state of Arkansas.

I thought your post was funny so pulled Baytown up to on google maps to see for myself. And you are not kidding. All I see are big trucks and what looks like waste dumps. Google blocks out the peckerwoods, but I fully believe you. Yuck.

I looked at the link you posted and suspect the Baytown Chamber of Commerce has been at work. Believe me, those pics are not the norm...
