mechanics??, certified???, hey this is a chain that does tires.wiper blades (which you always need) and batteries.
Their "highly trained staff" has, in the few I've used them in S Florida, have been folks who probably make minimum wage, and their skill level reflects it.
the training they will need is not to back-up over the oil change pit, don't rotate the tires, and don't try to sell a pair of wiper blades.
I don't know about you, but I've been totally screwed by certified dealers and Joe-Blo mechanics alike, horror stories:
$7200 for a new motor from a Subaru dealer, 17K miles later, it exploded, 12K warranty - screwed
Jiffy Lube, broke 2 dipsticks and striped the threads on the oil pan, they paid for the 2 dipstick but not the oil pan - screwed
Ford dealer, fixed my wife's Probe (going back some years, it was new) was rear-ended, whole trunk filled with water next time it rained, killed the computer, no lie it was like 4" of water in the car, had to write it off like it was in a flood... (it's own personal flood) - screwed (wife liked that car)
And yes, Pep-Boys (battery replacement) closed the hood of my wife's PT with the hood prop rod still up, bent the hood, and the rod too, then claimed it was her fault (wife does not open hoods, has me for that). After some name calling they paid for it. - screwed (for time)
It's luck of the draw anymore.

Yep, that's been my experience too. I plan on using my local 'trusted' certified mechanic for all Elio repairs if or when the time comes.

I once paid a Jiffy Lube for a transmission fluid replacement. Got the car back and checked the fluid myself....it was still the same old dark oil that prompted me to take it there in the first place. Paid $100 for an hour of no-service-rendered. I would have taken it back in, but the motor completely blew up a week later (unrelated issue). Yeah, it was my first car and it turns out I didn't know how to take care of a car. I know better now :)

I have loathed car buying...for all the reasons cited. And knew I had been ripped off with nearly every deal. Then came across fightingchance.com. Did that with two new purchases. Totally satisfying. I was in the drivers seat...and they knew it. In and out in minutes...literally.
