I'd prefer an over-the-top solution:

I'm definately going to be looking into some mods of my own--namely additional storage solutions. But the first thing I'm going to be doing is pinstriping my True Blue Elio with some 3M Reflective Vinyl Tape to turn it into a TRON Elio :D
Glad to see someone else is looking at the true blue with detailing. I'm a school principal and our colors are blue and white. I'll use my elio partly to follow my sports teams around the state. But I love the Tron idea . True elio owner creativity.

while that would be undeniably Badass it is a bit far fetched, in terms of the Elio. where there are Kits for the vertical doors that are a much more viable option... but then again having a dissapearing door would be dope... like on the Z1View attachment 10551

I forgot all about disappearing doors. Yes, it would be amazing on an Elio, like the Lincoln in these old videos:

That ......... is .................. amazing! No more door dings. Would love to learn more behind the engineering of where the glass window goes, how safe the side impact would be in a collision, etc.

People on this board make fun of us that want vertical doors, but I could not care less. They make the kid in me giddy. They are also uncommon around here, I have seen exactly 0 outside of car shows around here in the last decade that were not actually on a Lamborghini. Plus, I cannot think of a modern non-exotic car that they would fit better than an Elio. The Elio is unconventional as is, so an unconventional door works for me. Hopefully there is enough room in the door hinge area to accommodate a vertical door hinge.

I will wait to see how the upgraded 3.5" speakers and the Thunderform sub and additional two speakers it adds sound before planning further audio upgrades. I plan on adding my own backup camera. I am also interested in a turbo with heated leather seats which is why I am waiting for the second year run. Heated leather seat covers are easy to add, so mainly waiting on a factory turbo. If one is not offered for the second year, I will just pull the trigger and add my own.
I'd love to do one better than that and do some version of a 'Super' mod (google on super kr200)

I agree with you 100%
This is the exact wording I used in the email asking about Turbo option.

"Something akin to Ford Ecoboost, but actually works well, last a long time, and is reliable ?
Also being affordable would be nice. Cost effective or cost efficient ? I don't know."

It does not hurt to keep them aware of interest in the turbo (it is what I am waiting for), but Paul has already stated that he knows we want it and said maybe for a year two release.

But if Roush makes an add-on kit before Elio rolls out a factory turbo, I would go there. A Roush kit would likely be higher output anyway. I would like to see 100 whp (horsepower to the wheels instead of measurement at the crank). 100 whp in the Elio should feel about as fast as a 200 whp Miata, which is quick but not absurd or hard to control. Should make for a stupid fun daily driver.

Door configurations are fun to think about, but generally fail the practicality test. A partial-rolldown door a' la the BMW Z1 leaves you with a high stepover into the tub - that would probably be difficult to exit if you are of the rotund persuasion like me. Doors that disappear completely under the body would require a lot of ground clearance and a rather complex mechanism to tuck them out of the way with minimal effort. They'd probably have to be designed into the build as well.

As to the Lambo doors, they're interesting; but if you've ever gotten in or out of a Lambo, they require a specific kind of body origami for you to fold yourself into without scraping off your nose or banging your head. That's a problem with the sliding cockpit bubble as well - they look cool but are difficult to enter/exit. Then there's the problem that Mercedes found on the SLS gullwing - if you roll the thing over on its back, you're stuck - you can't get out of the car unless you are really tiny and can slide through a window. Mercedes solved that by putting explosive hinge pins in the roof so that you can blow the hinges and push the door away . . . hopefully. Given the grief that Takata airbags have caused recently, I'm not sure I want that kind of pyro riding around with me.

The disappearing door is freaking awesome.... If it were able to be fitted to the Elio, it might be extended back (as they did 10" in the video) and offer an easier access to the rear seat. Although, it would probably cost more than I could justify to add on.... :(
