Since I posted the original poll I think it is only reasonable that I inject the original logic.
At the time many people were complaining about the Elgin instruments.
It's easy to complain if you can get what you want for free.
This poll asked people to quantify how much they would pay for different instruments.
Logic?
If you are not willing to pay anything it must not be a big issue to you.
There are some folks that expect a choice from the factory.
Others; $300 was the breaking point.
Then there are some that understand the real value of what goes into it, and will go up to a certain point before it's out of the question.
That's less than $1,000.

I would like to have a poll now on the Skyz System; we knew it was $1,999.00 but they made it sound like it was the defacto add on system to the Elio; that is until they did a 30 minute presentation; I like to know how many thought it was reasonable before as compared to what is thought about it after the presentation.

I'm one of those who voted OK as is because the lowest cost upgrade was $300. I too need HIGHLY VISIBLE numbers or needles, but not enough to pay for an upgrade package. The price point is more important to some than others.

Being unwilling to spend $300 more is NOT evidence that it isn't important. It is evidence that some consider $300 a lot of money to switch out something that would cost the same as a substitution when built.

I suspect the Elgin dash is actually more expensive to produce than off the shelf parts.

The results of this may be more of an indication of how much total disposable income each voter has than anything else.

Disclaimer: You've conveniently forgotten to include, "Nothing. I absolutely hate it, but can't afford options 2 thru 6."

For that reason, it's pretty "fairly" slanted as it'll probably (and intentionally?) exclude a very large number of folks from voting on it.
I seem to remember that part of Elio's credo used to be giving the people what they want at an affordable price.

Of course, my interpretation and memory may not be all that accurate.
I may have projected my preferences onto what I remember and may have then rationalized it to support those preferences.
Then again, it may have been Elio's verbage that proved, on several occasions, not to be all that accurate.

Now, keep in mind that it is possible to change the poll and add that "forgotten" slot.
And it is possible to enable those who have voted to change their votes.
But then, sometimes you have to slant things to "prove" that you're in a (your own) little majority.

However, it is a poll, and it is what it is, as are the others. Nothing more, nothing less.
All the rich folk and all the folk who actually want the Elgin, have at it.

Cut and paste. God that was easy.

"Of course, my interpretation and memory may not be all that accurate.
I may have projected my preferences onto what I remember and may have then rationalized it to support those preferences."

I really like this statement. It is supportive of another common fact. Memories are reconstructed. Thus the fallibility of eye-witnesses.

I did some looking around and found an OBD2 enabled HUD for about $35. Model WO2.
I seem to recall from someplace that the Elio is about 7500 red line so I looked for a tach scale that would reach that.
Not perfect, but gives some additional instrumentation.
If someone knows the actual red line it's possible some of the other HUDs would do the trick.
