I like the looks of the new Pearl backup camera which needs a vehicle with an OBD port to work? Will Elio have one?
You're willing to pay $500 for a backup camera that feeds to your phone?
Wow, you must have a mountain of cash to play with.
I did my backup camera and monitor for around $50

(Just an FYI, OBD II = On Board Diagnostic port. It's under the dash and all cars have had them since 1996. Before that it was OBD I)

I would assume that it will have OBD II for several main reasons:
1 - It uses an automotive engine & power train.
2 - From what I remember, one of Elio's goals was to make the car easy for people to work on. And OBD II really helps cut down diagnostic time.
3 - If it's main service station will be Pepboys, then their mechanics will benefit greatly from OBD II.
4 - Some of the features of their Infinite Skyz app, appear to communicate directly to the vehicle. And a Bluetooth OBD II plug-in adapter would be the easiest (and probably cheapest) way to accomplish that connection & establish real time communication.

Yes the Elio will have an OBDII port. This was discussed at length a year or so ago. Something that will need to be considered is the ECM. The last I heard the Elio was to have a very rudimentary ECM (made in India IIRC for Continental) and would not have streaming data at the port. The only information available would be trouble codes. I hope this has changed with the introduction of Skyzmatic and the HUD.

There is definitely an OBD port per my discussion with the team at the last L.A. Auto Show. There was a mention of it possibly being a read only so there may not be the ability of changing programming through the port. I'm not an expert on the interface but this is what was conveyed to me.
