A Year To Remember

The beginning of a new year encourages us to look forward. Yet, to understand where we are headed, it’s valuable to look back and take stock of where the past year has led us. 2016 was a successful year for Elio Motors, and the progress of the last year has set us on an even more successful course in 2017. In the past year, we have offered our vision for the future, unveiled our plan to improve the way car buyers select vehicle options, announced successful supplier partnerships, made strides in funding our business, and publicly introduced our E-Series vehicles.

The progress has come at a frenzied pace, and the Momentum has been here every week to keep you in the loop. As a way to encapsulate the progress we’ve made in 2016, below you’ll find an index of every 2016 Momentum.

My goodness, what a PITA that was.
Since they are all links, it doesn't take much to get over 10,000 characters.

The only part I left off is the Forward looking statement.
If you want to see that, go back to any other Momentum, or to Elio Motors

Wow. That's a bunch of links. Elio has been quite busy this year. Of course, we could lament on the fact that they aren't in production yet or that the 23 aren't done yet or that funding is still an issue but why linger on all that. The question I ask myself quite regularly is a simple one. Is Elio more or less likely to produce MY Elio now? The answer is almost always yes. Elio has been pursuing the ATVM loan for quite a while. It would be easy to say that not already having the loan is bad news but I say that as long as the ATVM loan is out there and hasn't been denied to Elio, it's a good thing. Elio has gotten several manufacturers on board. Sure, that could just be someone saying "Sure, you build your three wheeler and we'll supply tires." and not requiring much of a commitment. It doesn't seem like much to some but to me, it is a company that has come out and publicly supported Elio and their venture together. It's a big deal. I see strides being made and progress, albeit slow, is happening.

Things I'd like to see this year:
1. Shift all Elio production to Shreveport even if they are still hand assembled. It would mean a lot to be able to say "Currently being produced in Shreveport in limited numbers." if nothing else.
2. Lock down the engineering aspects in several areas:
a. Finalize AC
b. Finalize traction control/braking/suspension
c. Exhaust and "the bulge"
d. Body design
f. rear wheel access/ front pod attachment
g. publish MPG, HP, and Torque numbers even if they are done by Elio with an actual Elio.
3. Now that there is a paint supplier, add paint sample parts to the tour team (if you can't send each reservationist a sample sheet so we can begin deciding on colors)

Company related items:
1. Secure funding. Obvious, right? At some point, Paul may have to consider outside funding and possibly trading away a chunk of the company.
2. Begin hiring process for Shreveport plant to have managers set for plant start-up.
3. Utilize Shreveport production line to build the 100.
4. Set up

Other items:
1. Check to see how many people caught that I didn't use "e".
2. Keep us updated on developments though we know there are rules and reasons for delays. I'd like to hear it from Elio before Google Alerts tells me.

That's enough for now.
