I wonder how difficult it would be to produce an EV with quick-change battery packs. You could pull into your local charge/change station, the old pack would be taken off from under the vehicle and replaced with a fresh one and you'd be back on the road in minutes. This could be done automatically eventually but as an interim, every Quick Lube could offer battery swaps since they already have pits in place and would only have to train a couple of guys how to swap the packs out. I'm thinking a standardized 6-8 90 degree locking cams to secure the pack in place. Okay, this post wasn't about the Sondors electric car... Oh, I have it! How about a Sondors with this same type of battery swapability? It would make longer trips possible.
While It could be possible to swap battery packs (as Tesla has shown), its a terrible idea to anyone who knows how batteries work/wear-down in the long term. Think about it, you could roll up to one of these battery swappers in your brand new XXX electric vehicle, and the battery you swap for comes from someone who previously drove through. While the battery shows "fully charged", the wear/tear on your swapped battery and total lifecycle of that battery pack could be years shorter compared to the one you had in your car.

Battery packs don't last forever, which I am discovering first hand on my recently purchased 2006 Civic Hybrid. Be getting the IMA warning light showing poor performance in the battery, and will be purchasing a kit to help fix the situation. There are ways to recondition them and help prolong there life (which I will be doing with mine shortly), but the batteries do fail eventually. I would never swap out my battery without knowing the condition of the other battery.

Not an issue if renting/leasing the battery pak, which is more likely if swapping batteries becomes the norm.

I do not think that the battery exchange is necessary with an electric vehicle, as most charge will be gotten while parked at home. Long trips will use a supercharger and the battery degradation with be nominal over a hundred thousand miles. When I had a Leaf, I was always driving home to the gas station.

I agree, it's not an issue for me. I'm patiently waiting for the day I'm free of no more trips to COSTCO's gas pumps.

The SONDORs could be a primary vehicle for a family of 3. Go Storm!
