This was my Triumph steed back in the day, sold it when my first was about 3 months old. Loved that bike.

Got a question for you. On the Volt, does it always run on the EV mode until the battery gets de-pleated to a low point, then the engine kicks in or does it switch to engine mode at a high rate of speed (say freeway speed 70+) even if the battery is at a high charge? I know the engine will charge the battery back up, (regen) but I wonder how long that would take.
Simply put, does it have a speed limiter on the EV mode as the Prius does
Thanks
Willie.
Nope, no limiter. It will run about 40 miles in EV mode, then seamlessly switch to gas to run the generator to keep you moving. You can also start in gas mode if you want to at the flip of a switch and keep your EV miles for your destination. Once the battery is depleted, the gas engine can only charge it back up to about half.....for a full charge, you have to plug in.

This AM. Wonderful news for Missouri people. The DMV is going to charge a registration surcharge on Hybrid vehicles if they get more than 4 mpg greater than an ICE. How's that for fuel economy. I will follow this story and report

FWIW - I am loving the Chevy Bolt. The official listed range is 238 miles. Based on my driving habits, I am currently getting about 4.6 miles/kWh. With the 60 kWh battery, that gives me a range of 276 miles per full charge! That's with almost half my commute being 70 MPH highway driving, which is hard on the range. As I get better with my electric driving habits, I am fairly certain my range will go up. Quite a few people have reported being able to get the efficiency up to 5 miles/kWh, giving a total estimated range of 300 miles per charge. When you need the power more than efficiency, you've got 200 HP instantly available.

One of the great features is "single pedal driving". It smooths out and lowers the accelerator response curve, and ramps up the regenerative breaking power. You can think of it as the pedal position commanding a specific speed. Press the pedal and it speeds you up to that desired speed. When you back off the pedal, it uses regenerative breaking to slow you down. When you need to slow down faster, hit the Regen On Demand paddle and it feels like stepping on the brakes hard, but instead of wearing down your brake pads and rotors, you're sending all that momentum back into the battery. With just a little practice, you rarely need the actual brake pedal, but it's there when you need it for those "Gotta stop NOW!" moments.

Overall, I love this thing. I can see why they say that once you drive an electric, you never want to go back to gas.

Nice looking ride............I too had to buy a new (to me) vehicle. Bought a 2014 Volt since a Bolt would not help me much on my long trips. I find I probably drive EV 98% of the time. I've gone 1648 miles on 4 gallons of gas :D I do not miss gas stations :p
Still want my Elio though.
I am in almost the identical situation, I got my 2014 Volt Labor Day night. My 19 year old, 240,000 mile vehicle has gone to new owner who is enjoying doing the small repairs it required. I pretty much just got tired of it, it still runs great, and gets 19 mpg all day and all night.

The 1st time I charged the depleted battery, it registered 37 miles for the battery. 2nd time it went to 38, and now shows 39 on a full charge. My daily commute puts this square on where i need it, and so far has been a joy to drive. it corners oh so very nice! I paid a decent price for it, not a killer deal, but it was very fair I believe. Only gas it has used was driving it home.

And yes, I still desire an Elio. But hope is fading, and I did not want to wait another 2 years to get a newer vehicle!

GTcarlot.com ???? Is that where you bought it? And what did it run you?
No, just used their pic but it's exactly like mine. I have ALL the goodies. Bought from Weber Motors Creve Coure MO. It was about 3 hours from my home and it was a CPO with extended GM warranty..................$16,000 out the door :D

Still want my Elio though :p
