Why are you even here? Do you know anything about the Elio? Do you even care?

Right on the front page of Elio's web page, 84mpg:

https://www.eliomotors.com/

What car costs 6k a year to maintain, let alone 10k? You are getting screwed if you are paying that much. I can see if you bought a 35k car with no down payment. Car payment alone is $6,400/year, but that's not maintenance, that's the purchase price, which is done through a loan. The Elio costs ~7,500, not including any options. So you can buy several Elios for your 1 car.

Uhm..... Hello! Elio's has not been made yet so NO..... 84MPG is not happening.

Uhmm.... Read the post... Fuel AND maintenance. Example ( my auto ), New Battery, cables, connectors, alternator = $600 this month. New tires $800 last month. Like I said, your experience in undoubtedly different. Both my cars are paid off BTW but are up in years. Gas is also a big deal when you have a long commute. Best you consider that everybody's experience is not as puppy and rainbows as your own. You know not what you speak of.

The cost of batteries has dropped 80% over the past 6 years. It will continue to drop as OIL will continue to rise as it ALWAYS has and does. Though oil is nothing where it was at peak in June 2008 ($158) before the crash, it has been slowly creeping back up since early 2016. I remember when the cost of a Tesla battery was estimated at $46K. Now, under $6k. The suspected life is also increasing and is passing 150K miles. In short ya gotta give up this battery hate thing. Its becoming embarrassing.
Looked up battery replacement cost for a Tesla S...$12,000 in 2021 (currently$45,000)... don't believe me...ask Elon! Or look it up. Also major battery degradation after less than 25k miles. Also... battery is ruined by road debris. Doubt it...look it up! Nobody spends $6000-10000 a year on a reliable ICE that I've asked... Twilight Zone stuff or maybe a Yugo!
What a disservice to low ball battery replacement costs for anyone that keeps their car forever!

I do enjoy this part:

Why on earth would you have to replace a battery pack?

The warranty on battery packs is FAR better than most powertrain warranties, and, at least with Tesla, the packs are going to be good for ~400k miles. Even if the pack goes out after the warranty, which for Tesla S/X is 8 years unlimited miles, and for Model 3 8 years 100-120k miles...battery prices at the time your warranty expires are going to be MUCH cheaper.

I"m going to order a couple of spare battery packs! :) Why would you ever replace a battery pack? I'm old and I don't have enough drive time to log on a total of 400, 000 miles. Buy what you like, Like what you drive. If everybody liked the same car and drivetrain we'd all be driving old technology Elio's.

I plan on burning more rubber with my EV.
