Hi folks. New member from Iowa here. I guess I'm what Elio calls an engineering afficisniado, being as I work as an engineer and have been watching the project for some time now, from that standpoint.

With yesterday's announcement about funding now in place and the production timeline kicking off, I figured it was time to join the forum here and join the rest of the future owners as this thing finally becomes reality.

I'm planning on two Elios, one for me to commute with, and one for my son who should be starting college right around the time next the Elios are available. I haven't reserved... yet. Wanting to see the details on the coin first, I could see going that route on one, if not both my future Elios.

Hi Paul….

Welcome to the forum!

Glad to hear that you're excited about the Elio.

Many of us have been waiting for quite some time. In my opinion, the wait will be worth it.

Have you seen in in person? If not, maybe it will tour again soon. I've sat in the vehicle twice. The driving position is incredible and was very comfortable. I'm six foot and plus size – plenty of room all around. Absolutely loved the steering wheel centered. The back seat wasn't bad either. Certainly no worse than any other smaller car.

Hopefully this is Elio's time!!!

I have not seen in person, I don't know if the tour ever made it anywhere near me. That's one negative thing on the Elio, no pep boys in Iowa. But if there are enough of them, I'm sure service won't be a problem, someone will want a piece of that action.

I am a long time motorcyclist, so I'm hoping this has some of that feel, in a year round enclosure. I realize the Elio is made for MPG, so won't be a real powerhouse, but I think it'll at least be somewhat of a fun ride.

I rode bikes for years. My wife says I have too much gray hair to ride them now – so it's been a few years since I've been on one. But I still remember the fun of riding ;)

I've read several posts (by members here) with flying experience. They said it felt similar to being in a single seat plane. Almost fighter jet-like. I can see that comparison. Sitting in the Elio – one has the sensation of being centered up. It's symmetrical. You see the edge of the right wheel cover – just as easy as you see the left side. Also, there's no rearview mirror in the front windshield, as it won't work and you don't need it. Those things sort of contribute to feeling like you're looking out of a "cockpit" – along with the pillars being equal distance in line of sight. It has a very unique and neat feel to it.

To me, as an old ex-biker – the Elio has a similar feel, in as much as the right is the same as the left. You can put the right tire where you want it – just as easy as you can the left. As with a bike – I felt like I had a pretty good panoramic view when sitting in the Elio.

I suspect that most bikers would love to drive the Elio when weather is bad. Or to save a little gas money ;)

Again, WHY are a whole lot of people saying that Paul Elio announced that the funding is now in place...
When what I quoted above (word for word from the news conference) is what he actually said?
As in, the funding is not yet in place. It's the same thing exact thing he's said for years!

BTW, welcome!

I think that is why he won't release the SEC. He would have to state facts. The last piece could be everything but the 2.5 million from Overstock.

Thanks for the welcome.

Paul, during his update, gave a pretty firm date on production, plus or minus a couple weeks. I don't know about others, but to me, I don't know how that can mean anything other than he's got funding, maybe not in hand, but lined up, and countdown timer has started. I don't think he would have made the announcement other wise.

He has been alluding to funding for years. When he releases a SEC report there is never any mention of funding lined up. That is why people are sceptical and the stock did not rise. If he was believed, the stock would be up to around fifteen dollars not three forty

All fairly large assumptions that seem to be based on little more than "faith".
I don't think he would have made the announcement other wise.
I think he's had a lot of practice at, and has therefore become quite comfortable with, doing exactly that.

To put this into perspective, you've got people talking about pulling their 401Ks out and buying Elio Stock or coins because Paul showed up in Shreveport and basically said nothing that we haven't heard before and/or didn't already know. And they're perfectly entitled to do that if that's what they want.

I was listening with a critical, but open mind and was actually hoping for some good concrete news that I hadn't heard before.
The news conference that I heard didn't contain any. But I did hear, "I can't get into a lot of detail on what we're doing there..." once again.

On the other side of the "coin"...
I don't know how that can mean anything other than he supposedly can't talk about it because it's NOT a done deal yet.

I'm pretty much posted out.
I've given my opinion and did my best to relay what Paul actually said in his latest news conference...
Regardless of his statements conflicting with one another and his apparent failure to say anything new.

It's, as always, as clear as mud and in my opinion the math is honky. In my opinion P.E. knows how to spin.

So... though I'm still Elio Amazed in that I'm still somewhat enamored with the vehicle...
Even more so if indeed Rosch and other listed top-notch companies engineer and build it...
Which, if it's ever actually going to be built is likely to be the case...
I'm emotionally exhausted by this whole thing as well.

I'll leave everyone to it. Hear what you want to hear. Interpret it the way you want to.
Just remember that you have the ultimate responsibility for what you "hear" and how you interpret...
As well as the responsibility for exactly how what you "hear" and what you choose to believe...
Affects your subsequent actions and accordingly, your lives.

I'll see where things stand in a month or so.
Best of luck with it all in the meantime.
