I was at the track years ago to watch a Grand Am race and one of my friends that had a team had a friend of his at the track. It was Russ Collins. Come to find out, Two of Russes motorcycles were on display at the museum. So, Suntrust had a massive party there during the race weekend and i went with this team. Since Russ pointed out two of his bikes that were on the wall, they took us all for a tour of the shop. Russ is a legend.

Did you get to take a tour of the restoration shop? if not it's amazing. They have people there that work 24/7 looking for parts. Plus if you can go to the track for a race, it's literally one of the best racetracks I've ever been to.

The train museum in York is massive, their restoration shop is amazing and the inventory building they have is huge. It has everything tagged, cleaned up and ready to use for something in the future. Plus the people that work there are volunteers and the restaurant is really good.
I did not. When Dad and I toured it, the shop was closed.

Glad you made it to Barber’s. It’s quite a museum.
I don’t live very far from it. It’s just about the nicest attraction Bham has to offer. While I can’t say that I know Mr. Barber personally - I used to do a good bit of work for him. He’s a very nice and down to earth guy. Super nice man. Everything he does - he does right. By the way - I had the pleasure of designing the Museum’s logo some years ago. I used to design a good bit for his companies....

They have a Triumph X-75 Hurricane on display. I cry every time I see it. I bought one of three sold in Alabama back in the day. Wished I still had it. Great bike.... and one of a kind for sure ;)
That's pretty neat. It's always fun to see how people are connected in the past.

Russ was one of those old school racers and was full of stories. George Barber came out and him and Russ had an hour long conversation on the Turbo and drag bike that Russ built. Listening to Russ talk about the crashes and burns he had from grenading motors was entertaining. Back then it was quite common.

I also had the opportunity to have dinner with Brian Redman and for anyone of you that knows about him. He was a guy that you just couldn't get enough of. Just a look back into the sands of time when many of the technologies that we take for granted, he worked through when they were just shunned upon (Brian's story about using ABS at LeMans in the mid 70 was classic).
