I hope they lighten up the Aptera. That frame holding up that body in white looks like it could support 5000 lbs. So they would have never built something like that if it was to be really light. Just some 1" thin wall square tubing is all they need. Plus someone needs to learn how to weld. Looks like something I did back when I was a teenager. I would have 3D printed the frame.
That is just the inner shell! Total weight for the completed vehicle is estimated at 1800 lbs.

This is a joke right? Throw your money away. Again. After all, it's a free country. And that may not even be true for much longer the way things look. 1800lb total with a composite unibody? You'd be squashed like a tomato bug in a fender bender. "Go 1000 miles per charge." "Co-Pilot Autonomous Driving". This whole thing reeks of exactly what they did to the public the last go round.

There’s was another three wheeler that claimed $6800, 5 Star crash rating and 84 mpg. Can’t remember the name but another Aptera like car.

I suggest you wait until 2021 to see if this is a reality or not! The former founders were not with the company when it failed the first time. They were forced out by a group of investors and they chose a different route to take which included a government loan. The original founders have bought back the rights to Aptera because the technology advancements in EVs and availability of parts to manufacture a new EV are easily available. Everyone that put down a deposit last time received their money back. The composite body is actually stronger then steel. And you are right about one thing, it is my money to invest the way I choose. I invest in 3 to 4 start up companies every year. I am posting these updates for anyone that may be interested in Aptera's journey to become a legitimate EV manufacturer. Another advantage for Aptera this time is that they have hired Sandy Munro for the manufacturing process. It is your choice to follow the journey or just sit back and root for them to fail! They raised over $2.5 million dollars in about 6 months so I am not the only one with a vision. So I welcome anyone who would like to follow the journey when I post updates.

Not really close to Elio except the 3 wheels. Electric compared to combustion engine and the passenger configuration side by side compared to back to back, plus the technology differences. Time will tell if it becomes a reality or not. But I will be along for the ride one way or the other.

How strong is the Aptera body?
I want to see them crash it like a car. not beat on it with a hammer. I can do that to a Ford Truck. Plus, they started their funding in August 2019. So, it took them a while to get to $2.5M and that came with a private investment. So now they have enough to build a prototype. That means they need about another $21M to get to production. Hopefully they get this done in 2 months and not using the word "soon". Because they really need to be up and running with a number of prototypes if they are going to get to real production by 2021. When I mean real production I want to see at least 1000 by the end of the year in the real world with real people. Not make 10 signature versions and sell them to friends and family.

Everyone that put down a deposit last time received their money back... I am posting these updates for anyone that may be interested in Aptera's journey to become a legitimate EV manufacturer.

A few principle shareholders kept what was little that was left and those investors not in the "club" lost their butts. "Other Aptera Investors lost Million of Dollars as well" -- https://www.aptera.us/forum/general-discussions/congratulations-aptera -- Evidently you've neglected to do your own homework so don't default back to telling me to post more links. This isn't worth another single click on my part. I suggest our members research the entire fiasco well for themselves. This is what they were claiming this thing can ALREADY do on their fundraising site EVEN THOUGH THERE'S STILL NOT A SINGLE NEW PROTOTYPE BUILD YET: "Go 1000 miles per charge.". "Co-Pilot Autonomous Driving" And another quote from August 2019 that says the new Aptera will have "...zero-to-60-mph times ranging from 4.5 down to 3.0 seconds." In 2021? With WHAT alien technology? Those first two statements on the fund raising page were FRAUDULENT because of the way they were worded. As Schneider said, all we're being shown at this point is a very rough molded piece of fiberglass on a very amateurish steel dolly. You ASSume that I'm "rooting" for them to fail. Nothing could be further from the truth. I would love to see this divine miracle actually happen. I'd be delighted. Even at the projected price of "Between $34,000 and $59,000". But. Out of all the well-meaning failures and absolute scams that there have been, this tops the list of "looks like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck". You are doing people a complete disservice by "posting these updates for anyone that may be interested in Aptera's journey to become a legitimate EV manufacturer." In other words, shilling for your investment. As "legitimate" as the incredible forward looking statements that, for some reason, they presented as actual fact? I've got some fairy dust for sale. Interested in that too? Please.

Keep your fairy dust, it is more appropriate to you! From your post, I can see you have very little clue about Aptera or it's history! No worry, I will not post anymore updates since they seem to bother you with fictional facts! I definitely don't need to stay on a forum based on a vehicle that was a failure and some of the members seem to think everything is a failure. I hope your glass becomes half full for you someday! Enjoy your fairy dust!

I didn't find ElioAmazed post to be offensive. Forewarned is forearmed!

As I write this in late November, the first Aptera prototype has been spotted on public roads for pictures and video. They will have 2 more finished by the end of the year. Details of the new model will be announced on December 4th. At this time preorders will be opened and many more details will be available.

Some corrections on the projected acceleration specs - with the wheel motors that are planned for the first model, the two motor 400 mile range version is expected to do 0-60 in 5.5 seconds and the 3 wheel motor model in 3.5 seconds.

I expect the first production models will be available for delivery about this time next year.
