I think the biggest question now is whether the Elio will have to be registered as an automobile or as a motorcycle in individual states.

You can register using your Google, Facebook, or Twitter account, just click here.I believe the topic here at hand is the very reason there is a delay in producing this vehicle.. But from what I have read, they are making progress on it in many states, thru rewriting legal verbage to provide inclusion or exclusion as necessary to eliminate any licensing and insurance difficulties. There may be a few states that will drag feet in legislation, you can bet Illinois and New York and DC. (anywhere bronco bama be) will try to kill it,, but the vast majority of states seem to be open minded about it...From what I researched, some states do let you take your test on a 3-Wheeler, but endorse it as "3-wheel MC ONLY", and may have a different course (cones wider apart). As for Florida, currently you do need a MC endorsement; but most likely will change. Not difficult to get in Florida; about $100, weekend course (they supply the bikes). When you pass the course (I did at over 60 years old) you just take the certificate to the DMV, no written or driving test! It should be registered as a motorcycle in all states, since it will have a motorcycle VIN number. As for insurance, NOBODY will write a policy for one.... yet.... they don't exist! Expect major companies to 'jump on-board' quickly when they hit the streets..... or lose much business.
I asked a question on the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles' FaceBook page ..... back in Dec. ... still NO ANSWER. Right now you need a MC endorsement, but not too difficult to get. Take safety course, 1 weekend, about $100-200 (get back by Elios first couple of months gas savings). Take course certificate to DMV, no written or driving test needed. By production time, 'may' only need a regular DL for an enclosed AutoCycle.Does anyone know where Florida stands on this Motor Cycle vs regular liscense requirement?
