Jerome Vassallo told me on July 18 that they are currently $200 above their cost bogey. When I observed that the car would sell briskly at $10K, he said, "We know that. We also know that we have to make a profit to stay in business. But Paul [Elio] is thinking about the woman who drives 75 miles to her job at Walmart and cannot afford even a $10,000 car. So we're hunting every possible savings we can find."
This authoritative.
So right now it's a $7,000 car. Pretty darned close if you ask me.
I suspect that options are where the financial "juice" will be, and that for my hypothetical $10,000 you can get a souped up, tarted up, leather-seated Elio. So right now it's a $7,000 car. Pretty darned close if you ask me.
Should make the AC optional. JMO

Do I understand you right? Someone at Elio commented with the possibility "that it won't happen"? Can you send me a link to that comment please?
I think you need to understand the source. EM Facebook has a lot of problems with trolls and naysayers and they tend to post in a way that sounds like they know what they are talking about. We have not heard anything that indicates the Elio is not going to happen. Have you seen the event list? They recently tripled it. You don't do that if you are getting ready to fold. I encourage you to keep the faith. :-) Z

No! As little as I use it, I think it will be important when carrying a passenger. :) Z

The vehicle should have AC, and it should be standard. JMO

I am more interested in the comment posted by mumblemouth allegedly from Elio on facebook saying "the car may not happen".
Please read some of the other posts in this thread. You can choose to panic and assume it won't happen or not. Henry Ford is credited with having said: If you think you can't do it, you are right. If you think you can do it, you are right. So my advice to all of us is to keep our faith in Paul Elio and Elio Motors. By doubting them you are feeding the trolls who want EM to fail. :) Z

Pretty sure this will happen and at the end of next year.
Now that being said. The price may have to go up after they see what the real demand is.
I don't think it will take off like gangbusters they will probably do 10,000 or so in a year as did CanAm with their original roadster.
You will have to pry the four wheeled cars from the "creatures of habit" with a crowbar.
But all of us here on the forum that are already in will get theirs for the stated price.:)
And if sales are "not-so-much" think of the rare and unique vehicle you will own.:D

I do know about the detractor types. But I can't imagine that a member of the Elio team would say something counter-productive to their cause like that!

I wish I had your confidence!

That would not be so smart. If it is expected to flood the market the price must stay down.

I have no problems with 4 or maybe even 8 wheels like the Eliicar (if I could waste $300,000):
. BTW, even they are still looking for investors. It would probably cost you 30 grand to get on the "all in" list. :)

I would gladly pay 10 if that's what it takes..

If sales are anything less than expected by Elio there won't be any more built for me. And the reason I am attracted to this kind of vehicle is not for kicks but for good old common sense.
