Really disappointed that Elio would push for the money before the final product with engine and all changes, tested, fuel mileage confirmed, transportation charges, transmission cost and type accessories confirmed ect. Now will we jump on the unfinished, untested product like sheep to "get a place in line" or at least wait till the real Elio comes to life. I've never bought a product that I have not read the specs, price, and at least seen the finished product. Show us the finished product Elio. We have shown you our faith in your product 25,000 times. Now it's your turn to show us what we are getting for our bucks with hard numbers including all the above mentioned facts and figures before you press us for more. Get the final figures and vehicle in front of us then ask us to keep the faith. Just sayin

I normally buy the last of the line when it comes to vehicles, rather than put money on a prototype. I won't put money down on the Elio either, until I'm certain I can even get one registered to use here in UK. I could be throwing away money that I can't justify risking.

Good luck to all of the hopeful and brave who have, this is one motor project that I really do hope will turn out well.

I recently bought a year 2000 Suzuki Swift 1.0 which is where the prototypes engine has come from. I love it and often take it 45 miles each way on the motorway, to and from work, in preference to my fully loaded 3 litre BMW!

The incentive money is for early adopters. It is specifically about rewarding people that want to commit before all the details you want to see are finalized.

If you aren't comfortable with the risk you don't have to reserve at $1000 all in. If you want to ensure you get one of the first year production vehicles you could do a refundable "I want in" reservation but of course with no risk you get no incentive money. If you are concerned that EM may not be able to refund your "I want in" reservation then I'd suggest you wait until the final product is available.

With risk comes reward.

Not necessarily. I am "all in" but not willing to go all the way on vapor ware. Has nothing to do with being confortable, show me the product and confirm the price. It's time to s--t or get off the pot. He wants from us now it's time to produce a product and price.

Well said and understood by so many of us.

I just wish Elio Motors would 'keep their promise': Another 'WEEKLY BLOG' without ANY report of PROGRESS on the Engine, Drivetrain, or next prototype...... what ever happened to the Blog's PURPOSE: " "Each week we are taking you along on our journey by sharing some of our progress making your Elio."" Quote from 13, Sept, 2013??????? If they would 'show' some progress (two/three months since pictures of 'caste' engine parts)..... what has been done since?

Perhaps they are keeping their promise........and that's actually it for progress................until the engine is complete and the next prototype build begins this month or next. EM is waiting on private contractors to complete their work. I bet Elio is waiting impatiently too. Should be major progress to report in the next 60 days.

Might as well sell that low performance luxury ultimate driving machine and use some of the cash to reserve the Elio. LOL The BMW is the best handling vehicle I have ever driven. However, the Elio will be more fun and affordable.

I bet it's much easier to import and register a motorcycle in the UK given a cars added safety requirements. It would be fun to own and drive the first Elio in the UK......would be a head turner. Good luck with your registration process as I think it will happen.

I can't tell if you have invested the "all in" $100 $250 $1000 or not.
If you have, you knew the risk and should be at peace with it.
If you have not, then it's a tad arrogant to demand answers.

And I bet you do that with less than two USG of petrol.

There's a 1999 Chevy metro hatch 3/5 in what appears to be primo condition available for trade in my area.
I'm actually considering trading my '03 Mustang for it.
I know the Mustang is much more car and far more durable than the Metro.
But the Metro looks all new and shiny, is also fun to drive in it's own way and gets double the mpg.
The RWD Mustang is pretty much undrivable in winter, whereas the Metro is fantastic in snow and ice.
I'm torn between the two right now.
