Chris....I think you hit the nail on the head....I'm sure once we get our autocycles we will be bombarded with questions from the on-lookers. Basically we are the Elio sales people

And that’s why we should get a commission. 50 or $100. In some states show rooms are over 10 hours away.

I read an article last month some where that stated that they want to sell 68,000 the first year then ramp production up to 250,000 per year with in the first couple years.

That number is real close to what Mr. Elio said in Phoenix a few weeks ago. I believe he mentioned that the first year would produce around 60,000 vehicles. So given 60,000 the first year, that could mean around 5000 produced per month, give or take a thousand or two the first two months maybe? So given that the 1K "All-in" production line number is already up to #3185 as of March 6th (saw this in another post), that would mean anybody going 1K "All-in" right now could possibly get their Elio the first month of production. I personally would rather wait till the second or third month of production before I received my Elio as that would allow more time to work the kinks out with possible recall situations. So with that said, I think I will wait another few weeks/month before I upgrade again from $500 to $1000.

Is this logic sound? Feedback and corrections to my logic greatly appreciated. I've only been following the Elio for around a month now, has there been times prior to now that you couldn't "upgrade" anytime you wanted?

The highest number I have seen so far is a member on here with 3338 and it would be my guess he gets his car made deep into the second month of production. The reason I say that is because to reach a production number of 5000 per month with a single shift they would have to product roughly 250 cars each day, five days a week. This is a very attainable number however the production line does not just start out making 250 cars on day one. Instead the line has to slowly ramp up to get there. It would not surprise me if during the entire first week of production they assemble less than 250 cars. They have to be sure everyone is fully trained and comfortable with their tasks as well as watch for any kinks in the process they need to iron out. From there they will slowly ramp up the line speed as everyone start becoming more comfortable. This process keeps quality up even as the line starts moving faster but also means that it is likely that anyone with a production number over about 1500 stands a good chance of being in the second month of production. I would guess that they start reaching the 250 a day number somewhere in the third month or production.

The beauty of the the pre-sale system is that they will likely sell out months worth of production before the line even starts up. This give Elio Motors both income and a cushion of time before they have to start selling enough cars to the masses to keep the assembly line going. At the same time anyone who pre-orders ends up driving a billboard for the new company right as their major advertising campaign needs to start up to make everyone aware of this great new product.

just for a rough Idea, lets just say I'm # 30,000., lets just say 2/3 thirds of those are all in 1k, Think it's high, but easier to figure.- so I'm now really in line for the 20,000th car? (anybody after me doesn't matter)
I'm assuming of the first 10k who didn't come in @ 1k and now all upgraded to 1k will not get a number lower than mine.

lets assume an average production of 400 cars/ day , so after 10 days some lucky person w/ #4,000 gets their car
20 days -8k, 40 days 12k, 60 days 16k, 80 days 24k , -100 days #32,000 (about me), about 30 work days/ month ( thats hi)= about 3 1/2 months wait??? i know shipping etc, adds days but just to know about when my car rolls of the line- What do ya think?
for those that were here from day one, please don't tell me it's been posted, I'm new, did a search, but couldn't find any discussion 'bout this.
thanks

Based on this post, you will have your car around 16 weeks after start of production.

Silas Sunday produced this great production estimate graph and posted it today to EMOA on Facebook. This pretty much matches what we have been told by Elio Motors in their blog and also what Paul Elio described in the Town Hall meeting while extrapolating a proper ramping up of production instead of just producing hundreds of Elios per shift on day one.

elip production estimate.jpg

The blue line is line/shift 1, orange is line/shifts 1 & 2, green is both lines/shifts 1 & 2 @ 100%
