Let's see... Motor news?... check
possible final Elio design?... maybe
List of Options?... maybe. Hey, did you see this on Facebook?

Elio Motors: Hello Colin, our options aren't finalized at this time, but you can get a sense of the kinds of options well have by visiting the Personalization tab of www.ElioMotors.com/#store, and you might want to stay tuned this next week. :)

Is that a hint that they are going to release at least a partial list of options? Perhaps?

Talk amongst yourselves.

I seriously doubt we will see much in the way of an options list until we get much closer to production. It would be nice but it is really early in the process for much of a list.

What I expect out of next week at SEMA is more engine news and also some information on a few new options which may not have been discussed previously.

At least some of these new options could truly be a big deal and involve big name partnerships for Elio Motors.

You mean there's options that we haven't thought of and (over) discussed?

IF production gets started 10 months or so from now, they have to begin finalizing a large number of things ....an options list and offering a major national tour featuring test drives are but two of them ..... sure looks like its about to get pretty busy

Jim

EM does know already what the E-series vehicles will look like and what parts they will use. They also likely have an excellent idea of what the options list will look like and have some good pricing estimates. The problem is that all that is subject to change upon further vehicle development and testing so this information will not be finalized until about three months prior to production as this is the lead time the suppliers need to get things up and running on their ends.

I am sure over time we will get a better idea of the options list but I would not expect to see more than the obvious and already announced options for a while yet and I definitely would not expect to see EM lock down option pricing until they absolutely have to which will likely occur about 2-3 months prior to production beginning.

EM has learned there lesson about releasing information too early so while they do try to be very open about things they are also very cautious about releasing information as they know anything they release is heavily reviewed and any changes they make draw a lot of criticism whether it is deserved or not.

As for the test drive events I would not expect those to happen until the months just prior to production as under the current timeline EM will not have the vehicles available until they complete most of the testing and lock down the vehicle development which won't happen until a few months out.

HELP I'M TRAPPED IN THE BACK SEAT AND I CANT GET OUT! Has anyone considered that if the driver somehow becomes incapacitated or unable to exit this automatically traps the rear passenger? A huge sunroof is starting to look more and more attractive. Or perhaps a pop off roof panel? Also I wonder if the door could be enlarged to both people to use the one door. or maybe a sliding door contraption such as on some panel vans.
