Pick a winner game rules...

1. Pick a driver each week and post your choice here before the green flag drops for that race.
2. NASCAR points for the race will be added to your total each week.
3. More than one person can use the same driver any week.
4. Points penalties received post race will not count against your week totals. You get away with being a cheater, just to make things easier.
5. Highest points at the end of the season gets appointed "Grand Hoo-Bob NASCAR Know It All", and will receive such respect as that lofty position demands. :)

I will offer as my reward to the winner, a pound of some of Wisconsin's dairy goodness in the form of cheese. Other competitors are welcome to add to this, but not required. ***No gambling, no cash!*** We're just having a little fun here while we wait for the 2017 Daytona pace car to be built.

Let's roll boys, I'm no 'Yota fan, but I gotta go with homey Matt Kenseth this weekend. He's been strong since tthey unloaded.

JR. repeats!

Kenneth has been good but I'll have to go with a Hendricks car. Of the 4 I think it will be between Jr. Or Gordon. Because this his last full time year, when pushed to the wall I will have to pick Gordon. The 24 wins the 500. Think back to all the NASCAR conspiracy theories, Harvick winning the race after Sr died, Jr. Winning at Daytona after sr died, etc etc. What a way to start of the new year than to have the 24 win Daytona. Headline will be Will Gordon
Finally get # 5 in his final season.

the former Busch series, former Nationwide series, now Xfinity series cars are qualifying at Daytona .... for Group 1 the changes made since the Sprint car qualifying seem to have reduced the drama a bit .... for Group 2 not so much, in fact, a bunch of cars destroyed and now its raining ..

To my fellow Nascar & Elio friends,
I'm about to step into the Lions Den and state my humble opinions regarding Nascar drivers, both past and present. The ones I admired and the ones I don't.
First, the Busch's: Both have undeniable talent, which unfortunately is housed
in bodies containing miserable characters. Kurt can't seem to say anything civil or decent about or to anybody and Kyle is convinced that he has to wreck everybody to win. They both need a dose of good old fashioned whoop ass, to straighten out their sorry attitudes. Thought for sure I'd get my wish when Shrub dumped Hornaday at Talladega, instead he pulled his "Hoodie" up and hid in the crowd.
Second, Danica, while also very talented, carries a chip on her shoulder and would be far better off if she concentrated on the Nascar learning curve instead, snotty ain't makin' friends and supporters in the garages. She's beautiful, talented, bright and capable of becoming a Legend if she'd just act the part. Unfortunately we haven't seen enough of another female driver with the same set of qualifications, Johanna Long.
Lastly my favorites..... Dale Sr, Richard Petty, Schrader, Harry Gant, JR, Bill & Chase Elliot, Brad, Kasey , Ryan Blaney and.....Smoke.......
Yea, I hear you all warming up to run me over, but, hear me out first.
The "King" Richard Petty said once that Dale Sr. was the greatest ever. To which Sr, replied "There's only one King". Besides, call me when your guys win 7 championships! :p
Mr September, Harry Gant is respected by everybody he ever raced against and tied a record with 4 straight wins in Sept of 91. The last one at Martinsville with all four corners knocked off his Oldsmobile.
Schrader, he'll race anything with wheels and still does, about every night of the week. Don't think anybody in Nascar ever disliked Kenny Schrader or doubted his ability.
Jr has always tried not to be his Dad and marches to his own drummer, Oh and by the by, his consistency ranks with the best, he just needs some luck and he'll win a Cup title.
Awesome Bill Elliot was an immensely talented, "Good old boy" from North Georgia, who was the master of over 200mph and a grin that made him a fan favorite, always.
Chase Elliot has all the tools to be the greatest ever, talent, patience, intelligence, and the list includes humility and integrity. He just might be more talented than his father.
Brad Keselowski just races everybody hard and doesn't whine when the tables are turned.
Kasey Kane is a very talented racer, a nice guy and really cute, says my wife! ;)
Ryan Blaney has his dad's talent and is another clean cut, nice, kid, he'll be great.
Smoke is just "Smoke", what you see is what you get. Nobody can deny his talent and had I not personally seen his good guy side, I'd question my judgement. Fact of the matter is he spends as much or more time devoted to helping other racers as he does being ornery, brash, and out of control, and he loves Krispy Kreme. What's not to like?

All right, I'm ready, got my fire suit, gloves and helmet on, so, let the games begin. :D

with both Sr and the King having 7 championships its hard to discount either .... King Richard's 200 wins puts him in a class by himself ... if he and Chad stay together, I can see Jimmy Johnson as being the only current driver with chance for 7 or more championships .... due to the level of competition during their time on the track, for my money Johnson is the best of all time ....if Ray Evernham and Jeff Gordon had of stayed together, this may be an entirely different conversation .... I once heard Kenny Schrader say that Sr was still on the track, to survive the Busch brothers would have a much different attitude .. Danica's in a tough spot .... in her first two years she's been wrecked by may to many different drivers .... I was glad to see her bow up on Kurt, hopefully that will help

Back in the 90's A lot of people felt the same way but the last few years Gordon has heard cheers when he wins.

when he broke into the top level, Sr beat on him pretty hard .... in later years, I saw an interview with Sr where he said Jeff standing up to him had earned his respect ... that's pretty high cotton

NASCAR has granted and expedited review for Kurt, it is reported to be in progress as this is being typed .... regardless if his appeal is granted or not, I don't see him being in the car tomorrow .... the pit crew has already pulled the seat and refitted it, the pedals and such for Smith .... couple all that with the fact Chevy pulled their support, I really don't understand what he feels can be gained by demanding an immediate review
