I've always meant to ask you, Rick. Why or what is reason for the New York Times logo as your avatar?
I pulled it off the Elio Motors Website to use during the NY Auto Show, which is over and hopefully successful. Time for a change. Thanks!

I think your right plus if they did start on a smaller scale (due to necessity) there will be a lot more potential buyers who are currently on the fence who will come off the fence.
Simple question. Does Elio NEED buyers to come off the fence right now? Why not wait until they are ready to produce to actually produce? As long as they don't lose the facility and can stand the financial burden of waiting, why wouldn't they? They could build 10 one offs next month and sell them but why would they do that? Would adding another 40,000 reservations make a difference? Maybe it would. Maybe it would just increase the number of malcontents.

Why do you feel the need to attack the person rather than debating or ignoring the point whether right or wrong? I agree with alot of what you say, not all, and don't attack you personally. I was compelled to reply only as a reminder that we should all be considerate and respectful of others views.

Why do you feel the need to stand up for him?
All of his petulant childish rantings were answered in Mr. Elio's presentations in Pennsylvania and NYIAS.
The reason for a new engine was clearly explained.
You can look it up. I've "quoted" it two or three times in this thread already.
(given link to the speech with clock marks)
This person whom you insist on defending suggested three engines that he/she thinks meet the requirements based on HP and torque. The problem is two of them have been discontinued and the third has been significantly modified.
How does he/she respond to any of the arguments? He/she doesn't care. He/she wants what he/she wants and he/she wants it now.
If he/she wants to be able to make irresponsible decisions about a car, let him/her start his/her own car company.

I go off on posters from time to time because I am reminded of the screaming brats that were inflicted on me when I was a stock clerk in a supermarket. (Grand Union) The mother would issue the usual "If you don't stop that I'm going to ............" to the point when many of us wanted to yell back "Either beat the little brat or shut up".
Eliothegreat strikes me as the end result of the type that should have been beaten as a child but wasn't.

Another 40,000 reservations might give clarity to some big money investors or perhaps the bureaucrats at the DoE ATVM program.

IF,when, until Elio Motors can demonstrate that they can produce
a fully functional & safety tested pre-production model
(call it what you will) the ATVM will not happen. Hence the current
push to secure the needed funds to produce same..............

Not at all. I'm making a pitch for production.
How is this a pitch for production? Elio Motors has 41,000 reservation holders with certain expectations (at least I do anyway), if they started to change things around such as slapping a Hyundai Kappa engine (I think it would be better than the Geo) in it or something, I know I would flip out that it's not an American engine. Part of what sold me was that Elio wants to build here and export. Export. I think Friedman was mostly right and the world is flat, but at least Elio wants to put a curve back in it. o_O

I'm thinken the New York show was very helpfull. Am I the only one that picked up that Paul was a little tired in the First Press interview at the NY show? I know that I would not be able to keep the pace plus repeating the same information everywhere.
