Until the marshaling centers are in place, over-the-road trucking would seem to be the logical choice. Afterwards, rail to the marshaling center, and truck to the retail stores. Is this something for us to be concerned about? Although the logistics involved are complicated, we should have confidence that the same business skills, innovation, foresight and planning that have brought Elio Motors to this stage of their operations will be applied to the shipping and distribution question.

EM has people who are being paid to handle it .... from what I've been able to pickup along the way, EM has been refining this process for several years.... the locations for the marshaling centers have been chosen so as to facilitate distribution .... where we know very little below the surface, they know every detail so, personally, I see no need to worry about it

I believe EM's best hope of successfully distributing the vehicles from factory, to marshaling centers, and to stores, lies in who will be doing the distribution. Elio Motors has arranged for a company familiar with hauling automobiles to handle the distribution. (I don't remember the company's name nor their experience.)

This is the same thing Elio Motors has been doing all along. They have hired specialists to perform the various parts of this project. They are not setting up the manufacturing facility, they hired Comau. They are not selling surplus equipment, they are letting Comau refurbish and sell. They did not arrange the financing, they hired Financial 1. They did not design the engine, they hired IAV. The list goes on, and on. It appears arranging for another company to do the distribution is simply doing the same thing they have always been doing--hiring specialists experienced in that field.

I keep thinking of companies doing their own work but that rarely happens these days. Today, almost everything is contracted out.

Do we know the locations of any of the marshaling centers?

I don't believe any of us are "concerned" or "worried" over the distribution subject. It is simply one more topic we have intellectual curiosity about. It is more relevant to the subject of Elio Motors than many of the other subjects discussed.

tell me again how they're gonna get 5k+/- units (a week) out to the 8 list centers (one is the factory site)
Yea I understand the centers will need a crap load of the 14 different unit combinations on hand. The'll need trucks from factory to 8 centers, they'll need trucks from each center to stores within 900 miles, and as I've learned here they'll all be dead-ended- returning empty.
And finish the units at the stores?? all within 24 hrs. (I don't think Amazon Prime would be up to the task)- although they can do it with refrigerators!!
Your thinking is SO last century! The answer is simple:

DRONES!

Is 10/1/16 now the earliest possible delivery date ( or start of production)
Below is a note sent to Elio through their web page:

Is fourth quarter of 2016 now the official delivery for Elio's. How firm is that? I really think you owe it to your loyal supporters to make IMPROVING the delivery date a priority. Supporters like me: 2 reserved and 1,400 shares BOUGHT, and I handed out home-made flyers with Halloween candy). I think it is time for Paul Elio and the Elio management group to make it as high a priority as 84 mpg or $6,800. My initial reservation was on 11/14/2014 with a revised target of fourth quartet 2015 ( TODAY). I cannot explain to people why the date keeps moving. BIG question: will the date move again or more importantly, will you make holding the date an Extremely high priority. Simple KPI, pick three top managers and tell them they will be fired on 11/1/16 if the assembly line is not producing X number of autocycle per week. ( or, you could use bonuses). I, and I think most other supporters, owe you a great debt for all your work in bringing the Elio to fruition, and a year ago, it would have been arrogant to ask for faster delivery. We owed you; but now, after all the support we have given, you are starting to owe us. We have done our part. Not me, but struggling working people, need this vehicle NOW

It would have been better to change the scale of the Elio manufacture and price. If the Elio was planned to be produced at a much lower volume, and higher price, we would be driving one already. When I had first seen an Elio, my first thought was how can it be built at such a low price, and that it seemed worth double the suggested cost.
We have to be patient if we desire an inexpensive Elio....

It is funny how almost universally consumers of a date assume the beginning of the quarter specified while producers assume the end of the quarter.

Paul has already said that delivery is based on funding as well as everything going right. I think it would be great to get my elio in October but I believe Paul will have delivered on his promise if even one production elio is available on 12/31/2016.

I also believe Paul is even more motivated than you to have elios coming off the production line. He will do his best to get this accomplished but the reality is that this is something that is very hard to do and with a lot of things that are out of his control.
