There was initially the SOLO and the SOLO Twinn concept renders. The SOLO Twinn may have broadened EMV’s market demographic dramatically. With that said, what if your wife loves to drive it and you find yourself home alone? Better hide the spare key! :)

Much better look for the dash. Doesn't look like a a home made car.
EMV is a team of professional auto designers, engineers, technicians, professional race car drivers, race car/auto enthusiasts, and custom car builders on a mission. There was never an element of the SOLO that appeared home made, as a successful design and engineering reboot of the original Corbin Motors Sparrow. Imagine where EM would be today if Paul Elio had surrounded himself with a team of qualified people with a shared mission, instead of a team of marketers. There would have been an Elio prototype screaming around the test track, Elio ride and drive events scheduled years ago, and EM may have crossed the starting line to retail deliveries.

Very well said Rickb. And to add their pioneering heritage born from Italian automobile manufacturing Intermeccancia.

The fist one were. Too much off the shelf components and not designed for the car. Look at the videos of the first ones and it was obvious they went through a catalog to buy the parts. Now it has a real 3D modeled dash and real electronics along with things like the switches and the instrumentation. That's a major leap just like we all seen with the Elio. It was a home made dash in the first one then a ad hoc Geo Metro one in the second and then they finally got someone with a CAD machine and a mold shop to make it look more like what a real cat has today. The SOLO is no different. Just so you know, this is a complement and not a complaint. Good to see Solo polishing up the look of it as should be since it's 2019.

The InterMeccanica partner actually 3-d printed and fabricated parts in house. They are custom car builders! The earliest SOLO models were Corbin Sparrows, parts, and patent rights purchased from bankrupt Meyer Motors. Not off the shelf or homemade, but rather hand crafted. Regardless the production model is awesome!

Oh wow, what happened to the SOLO stock? It looks like it was at $10 a year ago and down to $1.35 today??? For a company making progress, something must have happened?

The Corbin was even more of a home made car over. I would be careful when it comes to "handcrafted". There's a reason why Solo pretty much started over and then the production model even looks more polished. That's because they knew that a homebuilt looking car will lead you to bankruptcy. Instead, make it look more like it should be with real engineers using real 3D CAD programs and not winging it. You have to remember times are a changin' and a kid in high school right now can design something like a Solo. The days of hand crafting are for the super expensive one offs and TV shows. Even at that, a 16 year old can crank out what you want and 3D print it. Trust me, I see it all of the time and it makes me look like I stepped out of 1900. Just go to Roush and look at their nifty metal 3D printing machine. My kids are older than the ones that crank out things on that bad boy.

Whatever Corbin Motors, Arcimoto’s, and Electra Meccanica’s prototype building to production model process, it’s by far superior to Elio Motors R&D and prototype building process.

Just the fact that even with some big names in the industry attached to the ELIO including Roush but never came close to completing the whole package was a big disappointment.

In the end, the Solo looks much better and much more appealing over anything Corbin and Solo did in the past. That right there will eliminate the home built look that Solo had for the interior and the whole Corbin. It might sell to the enthusiast but not to the masses. The Solo got it right. Elio got it right when the E series came out because it was more polished for the interior. As for the engine bay, complete home built. So, Roush will fix that issue too with the new engine.
