    P4

If they would have color matched the rear cover, there would not be as much backlash over this. Once color matched it will look fine (prob an option or DIY to keep prod cost down). A larger rear light pod means increased rear and side visibility = increased safety, which is likely the major...

    Snow Alert For Elio

5" of snow ain't squat around here (I'm at 7300ft). When we get 5" of snow, it usually end up in 3-6ft drifts; early morning drift-bustin' is fun with the 3/4-ton Suburban - hit'em at 40-50mph and hope you punch through!

    Snow Alert For Elio

Not to mention all the bugs and mosquitos the size of your hand. They'll suck a pint at a time! LOL

    The Elio Automatic Transmission

"As for this donor engine (Metro Geo) and its built in trans----why are they still using this set up? RB"

    Manual Or Power Steering?

Performance level and pricing depends on the tuner. Someone with the knowledge and equipment will need to decode the original tuning map, then create new maps to increase hp/tq. It will take some time for trial & error to develop different levels of performance. I don't think a 50hp increase...

    Manual Or Power Steering?

The hp/tq numbers may change again after they begin testing a completed engine. The numbers previously provided are estimates based on computer modeling and will vary based on modified parameters. I've not seen the 70hp rating, just the previous 55hp and current 60hp ratings. The engine will...

    Manual Or Power Steering?

Modern automotive AC systems will only draw 2-4hp to run. The Elio system can utilize the smallest compressor available; doubtful it would scavenge more than 2hp.

What If It Had A Bigger Trunk?

Eh, P51's are way too loud. Picked up my '80 Bradley GT2 electric from a seller in Council Bluffs who lived near a small airfield. His buddy was out flying his P51 and did a low flyover. 'Bout shook my teeth out and I think my ears started bleeding, but put a huge smile on my face.

    The Elio Automatic Transmission

True for autocycles, which will by nature not handle as well as a FWD car (unless you're talking about some of the autocycles with an articulated chassis), but for ACs in general the FWD will be a big plus.

Test Drive / Ride And Drive Events

That's my plan; sit on the $100 NR until I see a production ready model released, or better yet am able to test drive one.

    Manual Or Power Steering?

I've not read anything official myself, but I have seen references that Paul stated it would have power steering. I don't see why, at ~1200lbs the steering will be very light, adding PS equipment would be a waste of weight and money.

    Not so sure about that......

Just not as cool. Loved that feature on my BMW 850Ci.

What If It Had A Bigger Trunk?

Aerodynamics will dictate the shape, and therefore trunk space. Target demographic is single person commuter vehicle, not weekend getaway cruiser.

    The Elio Automatic Transmission

Yes, yes, yes, but you stated the engine had a built-in transmission, which is absolutely incorrect. The only things front wheel drive is good for are better traction in snow, and reduced production costs. In every other aspect they're an abomination to the automobile.

    Move Up Production Start Date?

OK - right now there are approx 9000 reservations for the 1st model year production. That's 36 cars per day (260 production days per year (5-day work weeks with 10 holidays per year)). How long do you think it would take a single welder to fabricate a single chassis? Probably more than a full...

Maybe you missed the part about them being OPTIONS.

    Move Up Production Start Date?

It's a good sign they've selected the engineering firm, mfg/assy automated equip supplier, and electrical system designers. I'll be surprised if they get any production done this year.

    Heated Leather Front Seat

If not, carbon fiber warming pads are relatively cheap, as are switches and relays. ;)

    The Hood Opens Backwards?!?

A nice sporty touch. The hood is small enough that removing it for front engine/radiator access will still be easy enough.
