I'm one of the followers on that facebook page. As things began to stall and production dates slipped, they were getting killed with negative posts every time they updated something. Frankly, at that point, it was doing more harm than good.
Isn't it the government that's mandating higher and higher fuel efficiency standards? Isn't the government incentivizing the move to electric vehicles? It's not a surprise at all to them that tax revenue might fall as a result of those policies. It's my opinion that this is a 'long game' plan to...
We would take them here in Alabama, but I'm not sure where we would house them. The manufacturers that have come here have had pretty big incentives and built their own facilities.
Factory Five is one of my favorite car companies. I like they way they go "kit" cars. I took a tour of their factory last summer. I'm going to end up with one of their vehicles in my garage sooner or later.
It comes down to the fact it was designed to be built in a large factory, with big equipment, and in big numbers. As designed, the production of the chassis and body parts still takes big equipment. If the chassis was a hand welded tubular chassis and if the body was fiberglass, then maybe you...
I assume the E1A is the only one of the e-series that got completed with a full IAV running motor. The E1D and E1E were slated for engine and suspension testing but did any of that actually ever happen? You would think in all this time since August 2016 that the E1A car at least could have been...
Well, yeah, but that's not where the e-series cars were being built (for whatever reason) and none of that equipment was retooled for stamping Elio parts.
Where I was going with it was that it seemed that they switched to parts for the chassis and body that required stamping, which they didn't have the equipment do do.
I have been struggling with why the e-series assembly came to a halt. When e-series assembly started, I was convinced this thing was going to happen even though it took 6 months to get the "show car" completed. I know they allegedly had issues with assembling that first batch, but they had the...
This is the one totally electric vehicle that I think I could get on board with. If it becomes available any time soon I will have to take a hard look at it. The only issue is the lack of any kind of EV infrastructure where I live.
Possibly, but where I live it just would not meet my needs as an every day driver. Primarily because it is open to the elements. A video mentions option side curtains for $2,000? Secondarily because there's nothing even remotely resembling an EV infrastructure around here.
This is my first post here but I have been lurking around for a month or two. The perceived animosity between the EV and ICE folks is interesting and confusing.
I hear what you are saying here about battery costs falling, but this makes no financial sense to me. I could probably buy 2.5 years...
