How many of the 25,000 are in for a grand?
25,000 is not all that impressive if 24,499 are only in for $100
Why? $100 holds my place in line. Yes I move back for the big money that's normal. I will buy mine as soon as it is available to me to do so.

As others have said, 25% are all-in for $1,000. We figured this a few times based on the highest production number that is given out for a specific release date based on total production. Yeah, I'm one of those number geeks. I would point out that it is highly likely that even though 25% are all-in at $1,000, there probably aren't many in at $500 or $250. Most (though not all) of the other-than-$1,000-all-in-people are probably in at $100 which is a way of making sure they'll get one in the first year without taking much of a chance. I actually had a post that showed all the percentages but it's been a long time. So, you are looking at probably 5,000 @ $1,000 all-in and the majority of the remainder will be at $100. Now, some are in the "I want in" categories but probably not very many. I would assume that if someone were putting $100 into a company thinking they don't trust it much, they wouldn't feel much safer with the returnable amount vs. the non-refundable amount. I mean, if they were to go under hard, it could be hard to get the refund though legally they have to return it.

25,000 reservations is pretty impressive even if it were all at the $100 all-in level as it shows that there is a market for the Elio. That, in turn, can show suppliers that if they gear up, they will at least be making 25,000 door handles, latches, whatever. That's better than not being able to guarantee any quantity.

This is, of course, my opinion.
