A list of electric vehicles currently under development...

Some will make it to production, while others are probably just wishful thinking!

But one thing is for sure, Tesla has opened the EV market!

https://www.pocket-lint.com/cars/ne...ing-electronic-cars-of-the-future-coming-soon
There are 270.4 million ICE registered vehicles in 2017 most of which are passenger cars compared to a measly 3.2 million EVs worldwide 1.2 million of which are in China and only 750 million in all of USA. I think it's safe to say...for now, that ICE will be around for much longer until a new battery technology brings us 500-600 miles per charge....CHEAP enough for the average consumer to buy and not HEAVY enough to rip all the benefits of electric propulsion. Now there are 43.72 million in 2018 currently receiving Social Security some of which saved up wisely and can afford to buy EVs for fun and leisure, and of course the well paid professionals and those born with silver...or I would say gold spoon that will shell out upwards of 100K without blinking! That's why a brand new 3wheeler FUV or SOLO priced with retirees in mind gets my attention! :D The rest of the new (e.g. Sondors) and old players in the field (e.g. ELIO) are still "playing" with bitcoins, start engine, crowd funding, etc. will never see their project really take off unless they have at least 300-500 millions to play with to fully automate production and HOPE that they can deliver their very ambitious projected price of $7,400 or $10,000.00 and US made.

EV will take over but not right now. We all have to remember, when Elio introduced their car in 2009, EV's were a niche of a niche of a niche. What you could get at the rime was a joke. What we have to remember is that you cannot develop a new technology by making it cheap. It comes cheap down the road. We all remember car phones and the first cell phones. Only doctors and rich people had them. Now everyone does. The price and performance of EV's will get better but we are still in the infancy of this technology. No different than in 1985, it made zero sense to have a car phone that had terrible reception, was massive in size and super expensive to operate.

All you have to do is give it time. Ever since Elio has been in business, the EV market has changed drastically but we haven't seen it all yet. There's way more to come but in the end, the poor still need a car that can go over 600 miles on a tank of gas and as we have seen, gas is not going to skyrocket in price anytime soon. So, Elio is the only choice right now and has been since 2009. maybe by 2030, we will look back and think that the Elio was a joke but it isn't right now. It's a stop gap solution that is needed immediately until EV's get cheap and have lots of range and can be filled up anywhere. When Elio makes their EV, that will be the one which will change what we think about EV's. Half the width and it'll get double the range. Same reason why the Elio gets such good gas mileage.

In "short" and like I just said, ICE will be here for much longer....
