The problem with the LOL is the many people infected by the virus and the first responders and health care workers infected while helping them/us to get through it will have passed before the virus passes and/or a successful vaccine is developed over the next year to handle future outbreaks. I initially thought over reaction, but now officially on the side of the public health care officials. “Just when you think we are doing to much, we need to do more.” The virus doesn’t seem to be a concern to many people, unless their family or their entire community is directly impacted. Their only concern is the economy.

Unless my math is wrong (these are big numbers!) 2 trillion dollars divided by 60,000 (this might be extreme) is about 33 million dollars, that’s per victim. I’m what you might consider ‘high risk’ age, existing problems, live in polluted and dangerous metropolis with mediocre medical insurance and hospitals. Have no grandkids and wouldn’t want to saddle any of yours with my costs, either.

I'm biased in my opinions. My wife is an ER physician in her sixties. We will probably get it and due to our age and it could be serious. Having young people delivering food to the door of high risk people and giving proper safety equipment for healthcare workers would be the most cost effective way to help contain the virus. Having elderly people doing food shopping is very dangerous. Virus patients should be in a separate facility away from other patients. When Toronto had SARS, over half the infected were health care workers.

You may be biased, but it’s smart bias based on your wife’s experience on the front lines. Thank her for the work she does and you for the family support. Stay safe.

Was off for six days, but customers ("essential") need parts, so I'm back to work. Not worried yet as there aren't many cases of the virus in this part of Ohio. Next week might be a different story. Work did implement some new policies. We get temperature checked twice a day, and the smoking area is closed. Smokers must now go to their cars and only one person per car allowed. Plastic gloves are to be used and face masks (dust masks only) are a personal option. Six foot spacing is also required. Mostly common sense.

Some of our orders have picked up, due to customers pulling orders out of China. We are quoting parts for ventilators, but honestly I think it will be too late by then. That said, I think the States should recognize that the Federal Government isn't going to be able to either budget or maintain a budget for this kind of issue. Time for the States to take care of their own. Ohio is doing fairly well since they implemented the stay-at-home quarantine early. They have the Ohio Guard converting convention centers and other large empty buildings into places for patients who don't need a full hospital. They also checked the one Federal Prison in the state and found their medical staff was inadequate so they are providing medical support until the Federal Government can send in replacements. Many local companies are making sanitizer and masks for emergency workers. Still no extra for us common people.

Another good thing is that robo-calls have dropped significantly due to foreigner's not working from home.

The latest out of Ohio shows a significant drop in new cases expected. Tuesday they forecast over 6,000 a day, and yesterdays forecast was about 2,000. The daily actuals seem to be dropping as well. Bad part: Its hitting us older people the worse in Ohio.
The official Ohio coronavirus website is full of interesting info. Here is the forecast page:

    https://coronavirus.ohio.gov/wps/portal/gov/covid-19/dashboards/forecast-model/

I've worked most this week and am scheduled for next week too. I should be alright. A new task added to my daily things is to go around spraying disinfectant on the commonly touched areas.
