Every modern vehicle with a trunk is required to have a luminous (glow in the dark) trunk release handle inside the trunk. It's been law for quite some time. I doubt Elio will not be able to get around that law even though there's hardly room for a body in the trunk.
Lol.... However, they probably won't need the glow in the dark release handle at that point. There is if you chop it up right...
You would think that they would crash test the first few incase they need to make any changes to the frame structure. They said 20 were being built for crash testing I think. Would be good to confirm and even better to see the results.

It was the lead-times of things and contract requirements driving the schedule for that as a guess. One or more of that put the brake testing at the top of the list. Wait come to think about it, brake performance may be integral with crash testing standards, so I can well see it may need to go down first. You would think that they would crash test the first few incase they need to make any changes to the frame structure.
Not 'every' modern vehicle. With hatchbacks and wagons, they have gotten nervous about having a handle that some kid could use to exit the vehicle while going down the highway. My 1998 Benz wagon did have a latch on the inside of the hatch because there were rear facing seats, so it counted as an entry/exit door. Most (if not all) modern hatchbacks and wagons do not have the egress latch.Every modern vehicle with a trunk is required to have a luminous (glow in the dark) trunk release handle inside the trunk. Hello Darren from Warrenton, MO
That statement is Irresponsible, to say the least..
My recollection of the reason for the single door on the Elio was reducing cost to maintain the $6800 target base price, saving money with no regards to safety.
True. My smart car didn't have one either. And I know for a fact that you could fit a live person in the "trunk" of my smart. Not 'every' modern vehicle. It is a bit humorous that my Fiat 500C Abarth has an egress latch in the trunk, even though a puréed human body wouldn't fit in there along side the factory subwoofer.

Hi Frim when I think of Warrenton I think of that outlet mall!!
But I drove to KC recently and I glanced over as I drove by and it looks to me most of the stores are gone!!!
My point being: Paul Elio needs to know there is cheap space for rent to open a *big* Elio store at the Warrenton Outlet Mall!!!!![]()
