I would love to have some kind of wrap or even magnetic sign encouraging people to donate to our YMCA. They are trying to raise $200,000 to replace their therapy pool - a pool so old it is a disaster waiting to happen. Since I use that pool for water exercise 3 times a week I feel I have a vested interest in encouraging people to donate. :) Z
Warm water exercise is the best! 2 x a week for me. A large donor matched funding for our local therapy pool earning the family name on the Pool Facilities. Maybe there is a wealthy family in your community to rally behind the new therapy pool fundraising effort in some creative way. Good luck with that effort.

I understood we had a 50% match offered by the VA but I don't know if that is still on the table. I understand there are wealthy people living in the area but most of them moved here and don't seem to be too interested in supporting community efforts yet. I hope that changes because we have a lot of members like myself who are on scholarship so we don't even pay the full membership fees. It is an old facility with a newer pool added on and I think even that is a long way from being new. The therapy pool is the original pool and I think it was built in the 1950s but I'm not sure of that. I just know it is very old and we have major problems every winter with pipes breaking, etc. We already lost our hot tub and that caused some people who came only for that, to cancel their membership. Sigh! :) Z

Z, One of the benefits of the forum is our exposure to the many wonderful and generous people out in the world. The forum has enabled us to get to know many of them just by the nature of their postings. Blackbird is right about people being willing to donate to the cause. We are generous people and his idea certainly has merit. Count me in as one of the contributors as soon as you get it set up.

Wow the 50% match should provide major incentive! It did here. Just need one of those wealthy folks interested in health and fitness! Hopefully, there is a mover and shaker on the YMCA Board.

Zip cars. (or other shared car services)
Advertising companies. I remember the Red Bull cars with the logo covering the car. The unusual car will gain attention without fail. Helps brand recognition.
Uber ride share.
Couriers.
Food delivery with customized hot and/or cold section in the rear seat/boot
Escort vehicles (for oversized loads)

Z, (still love that name) you might consider talking with the facility and starting a Kickstarter page. Sounds to me like you have a worthy cause and a love to help people. Many have successfully done this for lessor causes and it sounds like yours would help the community. Simple and free to start a Kickstarter program and you would reach out to the world including many of the one percenter's and even the average people like myself that would be willing to donate. We could assist or I am certain your son has heard of Kickstarter and could give you a hand. Just a thought. Give us a heads up if you do as I (and many others) would love to help your cause. Got to keep Ms Z limber for her Elio ride home.
Thanks for the suggestion. I am not familiar with Kickstarter but will look it up. :-) Z
