Ever the optimist, I've just had a charging socket for an electric car installed in my garage!

.
I like to cover all my bases too, Wheaters. I am a former RC Electric Plane competitor and as such have had a real interest in batteries for many years. Dropped out of competition to take care of my business. I still follow battery technology with a couple of buddies around the country. Gelcells Nicads, Nickel metal hydride, and finally lithium ion or as some call them lipolies are all the rage. Personally the only thing significant of late are the Lithium Ion titanates. All that and yet engineering wise I don't see anything really replacing petrol for some time to come.

I've had the only "self propelled" electric lawn mower in Memphis for years now. I had to order it from a Canadian Co. It even has a completely sealed brushless motor with a 20,000 hour service life on it. Yet, I still say common sense gas and diesel is a far better solution for autos for at least 100 years.

PS Is that a convertible top on your Liege?

The top is known as a "Bimini". It's a simple roof panel to keep the sun and rain off my head and the wind out of my eyes - more or less.

There is no rear screen and no side windows. You get wet from behind in heavy rain. I have a tonneau for parking, it has a zip fastener from front to rear down the centre so if there's just me in the car I can leave the passenger side closed and the heater then keeps me reasonably warm (I have driven the car in a foot of snow and temperatures well below freezing just for fun; it will go where many four wheel drive vehicles can't get).

Maybe I'm too enthusiastic for the power or thought behind the concept of the Elio. I see the Elio as a distillation of knowledge that rails against all the socialist idealism. The Elio in essence appeals to this rock solid good common sense and not emotional propaganda pumped from the media spigot daily. Please pardon my Zeal. I simply don't see good old American know how as politcal. Nor a patriotism for American free enterprise as political. The way I see it is that every reservation is a hope, faith, and vote in that direction. None-the-less I yield to your supervision, Goofy, and appreciate what the moderators do for this site. You really don't get enough credit for your thankless job here.

Folks, I am very glad we have plenty of passionate people who want to see Elio Motors, and this country, succeed! :)

I just want to clarify that there were several members involved in the conversation and nothing that was edited or deleted was aimed at any single member or was considered offensive however we do try and keep this forum focused on Elio Motors and this vehicle we all want to enjoy sometime soon. Personally I believe in giving members some lattitude and let things go for a bit to see if they swing back quickly to Elio related matters however sometimes we have to intervene to get things back on track and away from big distractions from the main thread topic.

I'm guilty of thread drift, my apologies! I was a moderator on a UK forum about reliant three wheelers until the owner recently closed it; that's when I searched for another outlet and found this one! Keeping topics on thread was always a tricky one, especially where the original poster joined in. So I very much appreciate the work done by the moderators here. Thank you.
