It's a beautiful ride if you make a left at Lyons (hwy 7?), go up through Allenspark and back down to Estes. Stayed up there on the St. Vrain river a couple of years back...hope it didn't get destroyed during the flooding.

Estes Park is beautiful! My daughter was married at Stanley Hotel and we stayed in "The Room"! No ghosts, not so much as a creek in the floor! How ever we were pretty exhausted and maybe just a little tipsy. Higher altitude will do that to anyone! Always blame it on the altitude! LOL

That's what they said about Pikes Peak! My first trip up was in the spring and it was barely one lane wide with all the snow piled up on the sides. I have a heights thing and going up the mountain looking over the edge was more than enough for me and I wasn't driving.LOL! Now if I go up, it has to be midsummer when all the snow is gone and there are two open lanes.
