several years ago we purchased a Federal Senior Pass which covers lifetime admittance to public lands for anyone 62 years or older .... we have used it several times, a single pass covers everyone in a vehicle .... per their website ===> https://www.doi.gov/tourists/get-a-pass <=== The Senior Pass covers lifetime admittance to public lands for anyone 62 years or older. Starting on August 28, 2017, the lifetime Senior Pass will increase to $80. Until then, you can purchase the Senior Pass for $10 at any federal recreation site that charges an entrance or standard amenity (day use) fee, or on line .... anyone who qualifies and hasn't purchased a Senior Pass might want to do so before the increase goes into effect

Thanks JEBar! Here's a form to mail in to apply: https://www.recreation.gov/brands/r...ed/assets/Senior_Pass_Application_PDF1928.pdf

I believe that if you mail this form in, it has to be postmarked prior to 8/28/17 to get the $10 lifetime rate.

and here's the rules for use: https://www.recreation.gov/marketin.../Additional_Details_about_the_Senior_Pass.htm

I think it's an extra $10.00 to process on line.
I've used it from the Everglades, to Mt. Rainier no problem- just wave ya thru
BTW, I just keep it in my glove box..... glove box????

Thanks for pointing this out. While I don't qualify (yet), I know many who do. I'm passing the word.

I'd use the Federal site to get the pass to make sure it's legit.

I followed that rabbit hole last night, and came up with this:

The nps.gov web site send you to this page to learn about the senior pass:
https://store.usgs.gov/senior-pass

The usgs.gov site says you can buy your pass online from yourpassnow.com. It also provides the following explanation:
"What is the Your Pass Now service?
YourPassNow offers digital validation services when transactions, like the sale of a Senior Pass, require the customer to demonstrate eligibility. Utilizing a secure enterprise platform, YPN takes data supplied by the customer (like name, date of birth and the last 4 digits of your ssn) and verifies it against a variety of authoritative data sources. The validation of eligibility is completed within seconds."

Thanks for the clarification!
