I stand corrected, Hawg, but would you mind if I consider and Identify myself as a friend of the South Koreans and am still justified by saying my friends and I are still at war with the North Koreans. It's just a technicality, I know, but this way we can both be correct in that as far as America is concerned we only participated in a police Action in accordance with a UN vote. The lack of piece has always been due completely to the mental illness called communism in North Korea. LOL One last piece of trivia. The 8th Army still supporting South Korea to this day, was mustered right here in Memphis Tenn. during WWII. My Uncle served in it during WW II. I served in Korea in 1968 as an ASA spook which was the Army counterpart to NSA (National Security Agency) sound familiar??? LOLHidy Folks,
Sorry to say but the U.S. has never been in a legal declared war with North Korea... The U.S. has only been in "Formally Declared Wars" five times... The rest have been "military engagements" approved and funded by Congress or United Nations military actions (U.N. Security Council) that were funded and supported by the U.S. You know we send in "Military Advisors"... You are correct that no formal peace treaty has ever been worked out between North and South Korea... An Armistice was signed in 1953 declaring a "cessation of hostilities" and POW's were repatriated but that's about as far as it went...
Interesting stuff... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Declaration_of_war_by_the_United_States
