I just made my reservation for an Elio this week. :) I finally made my decision after watching the evolution of the Elio vehicle and its company for well over a year...mainly because my state won't require that pesky motorcycle license to drive it anymore. (Cheers for the "autocycle" designation!)

By way of introduction, I am in my late 20's and never managed to purchase a car. This is owing to the fact that my parents told me that I could either get a car, or I could go to college and afford to buy an even nicer car. Well, I went to college, earned my degree, and graduated right into the recession...and watched my chosen field of work vanish like a puddle of water on a hot day. Needless to say, the nice new car I had planned on buying was - and is - well out of my price range now.

That said, if the $6,800 price and high mpg rating remain true (as well as safety ratings, of course), the Elio will be the very first car I have owned. So, now I am in line with the rest of you patiently awaiting my official reservation number (which I hear can take up to six weeks to arrive). :D

Welcome Elynde. I am at the other end of the age spectrum and have bought cars but had given up on being able to replace my 1999 Camry with a new car until the dawn of Elio. I will be 73 when my Elio rolls off the production line and I can't wait to buy a new car that will be fun to drive and I will be able to afford to put gas in. You just missed the last issuance of numbers so you may be right about getting your number in 6 weeks. It has been like Christmas on here with many getting their numbers this week. I, on the other hand, will have to wait for my number until next year. I am $100 "all in" as of 3/1 and already saving to up that to $500 as soon as I can. You will learn a lot here as well as learn a lot of trivia but I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Some days I laugh, some days I groan but I'm always back the next day for another Elio fix. :-) Z

Elynde, Welcome to the best Elio forum on the internet. I hope you have a great time here! :)

I am only a few years older than you and completely understand the struggles of this economy. After serving in the Army and attending college I graduated into a very unstable work situation which has seen me be laid of from 4 jobs in the last six years all because of the economy. After sitting for six months after the last layoff I gave up looking for a new position and started my own business late last year so we will see if I can be more successful on my own. I have owned cars but the Elio would be my first new car purchase.

It looks like you may have just missed the numbers as the last batch was released yesterday however sit tight and in 4-6 weeks it will be your turn to celebrate Christmas in April. :D

Welcome to the suffering multitude of the disease called Eliosis. We hope to recover in about a year. We understand at this time the cure is that far away but we cling to our intermost desire that we will conquer it with the first breath of new interior. Absolutely noone will have farted in the seat. Thanks for Joining us .
