Hello Granny, since we're classified as a motorcycle on the federal level, if the states received any federal money to build those HOV lanes, it is our understanding that they cannot restrict Elios from HOV lanes.

This seems less emphatic than they used to be....

This might be a tricky one. Elio is pushing for all the privilages for their vehicle that an automobile would have while still snagging the perks a motorcycle gets. Like HOV lane use at any time. They (and so do I, to tell the truth) hope for the best of both worlds, it's a great selling point. People that run things are gonna catch on eventually and start putting on the brakes.

A motorcycle is a motorcycle, doesn't matter what it looks like, as long as it is licensed as one, the HOV rules apply to all motorcyc

I hope that doesn't happen.... It "IS" a legally defined motorcycle, it gets better gas mileage than any gasoline powered car, diesel, or hybrid, it is smaller, and much lighter than a car, so just because it is safer than a motorcycle and you can stay dry in the rain shouldn't mean you can't enjoy some of the benefits of both vehicles.... You are still sacrificing interior space, and comfort.

regs for HOV lanes are interesting ... most I've seen require two or more occupants with the exception of a motorcycle .... when we are traveling in Sportchassis towing our camper, we have two occupants .... I've never seen a private or commercial truck our size in an HOV lane .... while I have no desire to be the test case, I can't help but wonder what, if any, unpublished rules apply

Yup, totally agree. I think it may just be that Elio is creating a new mindset as far as catagories of vehicles. So far it's been pretty black and white, car or motorcycle. It's not that there hasn't been 3 wheeled, enclosed vehicles before they've just not been as successful as we think and hope the Elio will be. People aren't going to really know what to do with it at first so they'll try to make it fit in one of the two catagories. I think it will just be weird for a while is all.
