Yup, totally agree. I think it may just be that Elio is creating a new mindset as far as catagories of vehicles. So far it's been pretty black and white, car or motorcycle. It's not that there hasn't been 3 wheeled, enclosed vehicles before they've just not been as successful as we think and hope the Elio will be. People aren't going to really know what to do with it at first so they'll try to make it fit in one of the two catagories. I think it will just be weird for a while is all.
As technology has progressed many transportation ideas which were only dreams in the past are now starting to become realistic options. For the first time modern engineering and computer controlled safety systems allow three wheel vehicles, such as the Elio, to offer levels of safety comparable with other cars on the road. Moving forward over the next year or two Lit Motors will further blur the lines between cars and motorcycles when they offer a fully enclosed two wheel vehicle which is operated with car controls as well as offering cutting edge safety systems which can keep the vehicle upright even in the even of an accident.
In my opinion we need as many of these vehicles to succeed over the next several years so that when the government does catch up with the technological advances happening in the real world these new companies will be successful enough to fight off the incumbent automotive and motorcycle manufacturers who will try to use changes in law to maintain their status quo and resist innovation instead of adapting to the new realities.
