Hmmm I guess there are some who don't like Apple's business model..

I found an article about this Jan. 2012 incident that said this:

"The Taiwanese manufacturing giant [Foxconn] that produces electronics for companies including Apple, Hewlett-Packard and Dell said workers had demonstrated by threatening to throw themselves off the roof of a factory in Wuhan on 4 January. About 150 employees took part in the protest at the plant, which makes X-Box 360 video games."

If the above is true, then it's not just Apple... it's HP, Dell and Microsoft too.

I'll research on this some more and see what's happened in the last 3 1/2 yrs.

Been in graphics and video business since forever. I've used many Macs over the years – ever since they started making them. Expensive but always rock solid.

PC = piece of crap ;)

"always rock solid" ummm I've been an Apple tech since 1992, I've seen too many broken ones to buy that.

For Foxconn in China and worker protests:
  • There appears to have been a protest in Jan. 2012 in Wuhan
  • There appears to have been another protest in Apr. 2012 in Wuhan
  • An article in Oct 2012, mentions that a worker strike from the factory happened recently before the article; apparently most of the workers involved dealt with quality control on Apple iPhone construction; this article said a different Foxconn plant in late Sept had a brawl between employees break out, among 2000 employees, with 40 getting hurt; that factory was closed for a day;
  • That same article mentioned something that I found interesting: 190,000 employees work at the Zhenghou complex. Holy cow! When you have that many employees at one site, there's bound to be a few that are suicidal. Not giving excuses, just sayin'.
  • An article from June 2015, says that factory provides electronics to Sony, Nintendo and Amazon; it also said that most complaints at that time were coming from groups outside of plant employees, which of course feeds the conspiracy theories;
  • Wikipedia article on Foxconn suicides, says "Although the number of workplace suicides at the company in 2010 was large in absolute terms, the rate is low when compared to the rest of China."
  • Wikipedia also says "The suicide rate at Foxconn during 2010 remained lower than that of the general Chinese population at the time, as well as all 50 states of the United States (U.S.)."
  • Also, "At the time of the company's press conference on May 26, 2014, in relation to the deaths, Foxconn was the world’s largest contract electronics manufacturer, the factory in which the deaths occurred employed around 300,000 people..."

PC=piece of crap? Not if you do what I did. Bought a new Dell laptop for $50 dollars off without windoze on it. Came with Ubuntu Linux which I upgraded to Kubuntu. Rock solid. No backdoors (like Mac and Windows), spyware, or viruses. Laptop was $327 shipped to my door. Beat that Mac or windoze!

What I meant was – Macs have always been rock solid for me (and the companies I've worked for.) My first Mac was in 1984. Over the years, I've worked daily (and nightly) on dozens of them. For the last 10 years, I've worked heavy in video editing. I've had only one Seagate hard drive go out in 29 years. That's it. I must be the luckiest Mac user in the world, according to your list.

Well according to me, everything is junk. I've seen all types and name brands fail, no one has a lock on a perfect system. They all fail eventually and they are outdated before you can get them out of the box. Look if I gave you $1 Million dollars and had you buy me the best computer you could, in 7 years it would be landfill. I get sentimental with cars, not technology. I have an attic full of $2000 computers that aren't worth squat now. I have cars and bike that are 40+ years old and they are worth more now then when they were new. Been doing this since the 80's so I'm just a jaded tech, I don't gush with
PC/Printer love anymore,,,, it's all junk.
