Actually, my son in Washington bought an electric assisted bike. He paid about half of what an Elio costs, gets 10 mph, charges it overnight and during the day at work. This is the one who has never gotten a driver's license. I think it might have been cheaper to get a license because he still takes the bus when it is too hot, too cold, and because of other weather related issues. :-) Z

Peak oil being a myth would suggest that there is truely (and magically) a absolutely infinite quantity of oil in mother earth.
I'm not even going to go there on the global warming thing in a thread titled, 'I Shall Call It "total Enviormental Impact!"'.

My response was to the statement, "Why should taxes be spent subsidizing a product they charge money for?"
To clarify, I really can't really answer why taxes should be spent subsidizing a product they charge money for.
I only made the point that many things are commonly subsidized in an effort to produce a certain outcome.
I don't agree with all subsidies that are allocated, but I suspect that we've all benefited from some of them.
If farming had not been subsidized a long time ago, there's a possibility that many would have starved. Or not.
Perhaps you're right in that we should just let the engine of free enterprise sort it all out.
But it's just the way it's been and, from all indications, it looks like it's the way it'll continue to be.

And you're right again in that I failed to recognize and accept the obvious conspiracy theory thing.
I'm still just a little vague on how these straw dogs garner power to the politicians.
I wonder if you'd elaborate on that?

Doesn't bother me in the slightest to point out; peak oil is a myth just as global warming is a myth.
I don't think you've seen the possibilities any more than the next fellow. What's troubling is that you don't see all the straw dogs being perpetrated on the American Public solely to garner power to the politicians.

Free enterprise is the engine to sort it all out. If you decide to throw your hands up in disgust then the show is over. Our points are mute.
Government takes on God status once it appoints itself dispensation rights as to who gets what (it's their job just to keep it fair and representative only and not to rule power). You guys can go on and keep duping yourselves over the straw dogs. I'm going to vote a straight ticket in a couple of days. It's never in history been possible to be 96.346465% correct just by throwing the lever in the voting booth in only one direction. We'll see in a couple of days.

I'm fully aware that someday oil will be gone. What is absolutely ridiculous that any pompous ass politician or anyone on this sight for that matter has the slightest idea where peak oil is. More oil has just been discovered this year in America than has ever been pumped in America from the beginning of time. Sorry I'm not going to explain how Worthless Politicians generate false notions to the general public and make crony deals for alternative fuels and power. Don't mean to imply anything conspiracy wise. This would all be public knowledge if it weren't for the idiots of the national media. It's just to point out painful inadequacies of CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN . I would start with the The Drudge Report more meaningful data. My major regret is that this forum is not the place plus who likes to type this much. Yuck! So signing off unless you want to PM me. If we all knew more about Saul Alinsky that would save tons of explanations about about Both Hillary and her nemesis and including this whole Chicago political machine that never met a disaster they couldn't capitalize on.
