that 25th place dropped her to 16th in the standings .... frankly, if she ends up that high at the end of the year it would be a good sign of major improvement

http://espn.go.com/racing/standings shows her in 17th place. But yes you're right, even first out is an improvement, something to build on.

And Tony still stinks...

Danica's still learning .... early in the race at Richmond her car was hit and put into a full sideways slide .... she straightened it out and motored on .... even DW complimented her and said there is no doubt that she knows how to control her car .... at SHR she gets good equipment but not their top personnel .... her former crew chief is one of the best and he was pulled to work for Kurt Busch on the 41 team .... I don't know that she will ever be a top ten driver but she's pretty dang good

:) Ah, I'm a stat nerd, so I had to figure this out. ESPN's site doesn't automatically sort the list by points. When I clicked on the Points column header, it matches up with what's on nascar.com. Sixteenth it is! Thanks JE.

not an issue .... its way too early in the season to get to excited about the driver's points position

Looks like 'your girl' will be looking for a sponsor. This is too bad. I think they were a good match.

it must take a major chunk of GO Daddy's income to have sponsored a race team .... that said, I guess they can write it off as advertising .... with the high cost of sponsorship, there can't be many companies out there that can and are willing to be a sole sponsor .... DuPont sponsored the 24 for many years and the 48 has had solid backing from Lowe's .... her popularity with fans should help them find a sponsor

from NASCAR.com where more info is available

"You know what they say about one door closing and another one opening.

And this door -- and hood and roof and fender -- is one of the most valuable opportunities in NASCAR.

When GoDaddy announced Wednesday that it would not be back as primary sponsor of Danica Patrick's No. 10 Chevrolet next year, the rest of corporate America should have started its engines.

Outside of Dale Earnhardt Jr. there is no NASCAR driver more marketable than Patrick. Her audience and fandom is easily the most diverse in the sport. Hollywood loves her as do hardcore fans in Martinsville, Virginia.

She's an ideal spokesperson for any company, as comfortable ringing the bell on Wall Street as speaking on behalf of COPD advocacy.

She's starred in Super Bowl commercials and appeared in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. Patrick's merchandise is annually one of NASCAR's biggest sellers from young girls who look up to her, to the young girls' fathers who are impressed with her moxie.

Last year, she became the first NASCAR driver to top one million Twitter followers. Even her dog Dallas Stenhouse has nearly five thousand followers.

And best of all for Patrick, her NASCAR career has never been hotter. She's driving like an athlete in a contract year because she is. But also because that's progress and experience. And her underappreciated determination.

"Danica's very marketable as we all know, and I really have been watching her," NASCAR Chairman and CEO Brian France told SiriusXM NASCAR Radio on Wednesday.

"She's competing more and more at a higher level, and she's very competitive."

And, France noted, "She will be fine." "
