So johnsnownw, you think Tesla has absolutely no issues with their AP and that is all the fault of the highway crews?
Or, maybe the operator, but Tesla is in no way responsible at all?
I guess when that Tesla in Florida drove straight into the side of a semi truck it was bad lane markings as well?
Oh right, that was totally the operators fault too.
Your bottom line then is that anybody who uses the Tesla AP and is in a accident, it is either the highway department or the operators fault?
Sounds to me like it is the fault of the operator for using the Tesla AP in the first place.
AP appears to be working as intended. It follows the lines on the road that are there, it doesn't make up its own. AP is certainly not a perfect system, none of the systems out are...they all rely on a human monitor.
The one in FL was caused by the truck driver pulling out in front of the vehicle, and the Tesla driver not paying attention. The NTSB findings were that AP worked as designed.
It's the fault of the operator for not using AP as intended, full stop. No one blames the vehicle manufacturer for allowing people to travel faster than the posted speed limit. AP is a driving aid, not a chauffeur.
