Interesting insights from Patrick Byrne himself concerning how ElioCoin would be used. He essentially explains it as speculators paying up front for privileged access to auctions in order to receive delivery of an Elio vehicle well ahead of the 65,000+ reservationists. Rather than traditional investing by means of shares of issued stock that come with a vested interest in the company's future financial performance, these digital coins are nothing more than monetizing the greed and bullishness of speculators who want to jump ahead of everyone else in line, providing capital to Elio Motors prior to sale or delivery.

It sounds analogous to amusement parks allowing you to pay a premium in advance for a FastPass that grants you privileged access to a VIP line with a significantly shorter wait time to get on a roller coaster or similar attraction. Pay to play.

What is the long term gain for Elio/Overstock? Is ‘outside investment’ limited to a selling a vehicle but just for more money? How much more? Even at over double or maybe triple the price, who needs more than one, or a few identical, vehicles: do you have to buy a fleet to ‘seriously’ invest? (Are you supposed to sell them like Amway)? Is this just a way of selling cars at an enhanced profit (but probably not too much) by jumping over another (who, and just how many?) to get a car: if this created rush on vehicles doesn’t work or rapidly ‘peters out’ it will basically be an admission that they cannot sell the cars on merit alone making it even harder to secure big funds.

Very strange, risky, and slow process with not much of an upside in getting any real big money to move forward on the $350million that is really necessary.

OK... Everyone realizes that with this new plan even the spot in line you payed for...
(seeing as how that's all your all-in reservation guaranteed if and when the vehicle is produced),,,
will no longer be honored as a guarantee of that particular SIL. Right?

For a long time now, I've listened to people say that a SIL is all that I was paying for...
Along with the discount if and when the vehicle is produced.

Now EM and Overstock are going to open a new category and allow others to jump in front of me?

Someone explain how this is not a broken promise and is not something that violates the terms of my reservation?
