a bad snowstorm, weather, doesn't mean AGW, CLIMATE warming, is false.
I doubt one dead king was solely responsible for the strategy of shaking out competitiion from high-cost frackers (and the strategy of cratering Russia's and Russian protege Syria's (and ISIL's) revenues).

U.S. oil prices surged 8.3% as traders jettisoned bearish bets against the market after data showed a steep drop in the number of rigs drilling for oil in the country—a sign that crude production may be starting to ebb.

US rig count is way down, and descending.
That doesn't mean Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Russia, etc will stop pumping into a glutted market. SA says they want maintain market share by killing the smaller fracking production outfits and by stopping fracking from spreading, and they probably will. Those outfits are heavily indebted with junk bonds, so if they go under, BIG problems for the bond holders.
