When was the last time a vehicle company of any kind offered pre-production information of any kind to the public before hand? To my knowledge, never. ...snip...

I'd guess it was the last time a company asked people to plunk down $1K on a product not yet built. They have no secrets to protect as this is a lo-tech project. The fact that this company doesn't have a company spokesman and is borderline inept in it's use of social media speaks volumes to the big money investors that are needed to make this project work

I guess we will simply have to agree to disagree. You enjoy your speculation and angst and I will enjoy my journey. :-) Z

There are many things that need to be questioned. Raising the roof line 1.5-2" when cars are supposed to be rolling off the line a year from now is absurd. As far as I can tell no one at EM knows what trans will be used yet as they are still hashing out the details.

The worst part is the lack of communication. Recently people have claimed the auto trans version will cost 250-300 more, 500 more, and 1000 more. All of them claimed this news came from EM. It may well have. The fact that there is no official info pipe line and we have to guess which second hand info to believe is ridiculous.[/quote

Paul Elio has stated more then once, that there is going to be a P5 and maybe a P6 if needed, before production starts... they take the feedback, that they get from the shows and see if they can make improvements to the Elio, before production starts... so it will be more what the people want in this low cost Autocycle, like the lack of headroom in the back seat, that is why they are raising the roof line the 2"...

From the reports from a past employee, who worked that the Shreveport LA plant making the S-10 pick ups, an Elio could be rolling off the production line... one every 52 seconds, that is a lot of small things to do to make sure they come out right... so let them do it right....

As far as the auto trans... Paul stated that they were in contact with three different transmission manufactures and was working on getting the best deal, for the bucks, to keep it at the mark of $6,800... that is why you hear different prices...

and for the last part... zelio is right... where have you heard of any vehicle manufactures that really asks people what they want and changes it before you buy.... on the most part they just show what they have... and sell it to you for $30,000...

I'll take the Elio, hard to wait, but the wine will be fine....

Just have to hold on... for the Elio Party's in 2015... should be fun...

Proud to be.... an Elio owner... soon...

For the record, they didn't ask Anyone to plunk down any money. That was your decision and your commitment to Them. You can have an opinion, its a forum, but how they run Their company was not part of the agreement. Have faith, in a little over a year we will all look at this time and anxiety and laugh while we drive along the highway.
Oh they asked..When i filled out they order Idid not send it for about 2 weeks. guess it was in check out or wish list, anyway I got emails daily plus a phone call .. Same crap I normally get after leaving any car dealership..

I am a very critical person. I can love you and criticize you and not feel the least little bit puzzled.
With Elio there is very little to criticize in their actions. Why? Because we do not know. So I guess you criticize them about not letting you know everything YOU want to know.
So many here have reservations about their reservations, and then they establish a premise which is unfounded to support their belief.
Elio is doing stuff, they are continuously moving forward. They are not doing it according Bubba or Lulu or an of the rest of us. But my god, to get on the Weather Channel, what a prize! Yet some of us believe if they don't see an "Opening Soon" banner then we have reason to worry, or bulletin boards.
I do not try and figure out the strategy. They have more knowledge about what to do and what they are doing. And if you could trust them when you plunk your cash down then they have not for one minute given you a valid reason to change your mind. They continue to show headway, with business partners and in the area of publicity.

Many here think my questioning of the gas cap on the wrong side was the musings of a fool, but the truth is that is something that is something that could be changed, and should be considered BEFORE the final prototype is accepted. And it is also something we are sure of, unlike those that worry about nothing but their mind's misgivings.
As critical as I am I find nothing they are doing as far as their business model to get upset about....

Now about that gas cap..and the lack of any optional quality paint jobs????
I took a chance on a product.. A short time later I find the people who are behind it are full of shit..A business plan consisting of "WE ARE WORKING OUT THE DETAILS "IS NOT A VALID ONE ????.. ELIO SAID.."WE ARE IN 60 MAJOR MARKET AREAS, BIG MAP , LOTS OF DOTS..Now it's plan to be..A prototype with a few pictures showing one person building / working on it in a filthy, messy shed smaller than my garage...No proof of any teck stuff.. Oh if you want to seet the elio in nashville they will be there 3 or 4 hours (weather permitting) on the 22ond..

When was the last time a vehicle company of any kind offered pre-production information of any kind to the public before hand? To my knowledge, never. We need to keep that in mind rather than constantly demanding they tell us everything we think we need to know. Do we really Need to Know? When I signed my agreement it said I was reserving a place in line. It also very clearly stated no guarantees. I fully accept my decision to make that commitment. I also fully believe the Elio is going to happen. I trust Paul Elio, his team, his concept and Elio Motors. It is not for me to judge any changes they decide to make in order to meet the 4 goals they have specified. I personally am thrilled to have the opportunity to participate in this wonderful and exciting adventure. When I get my Elio I will also enjoy the continued adventure of owning something unique that I got to follow as it was being created and produced. The only other times I get to have that kind of experience is when I am designing and creating my clothing and when I am experimenting with nutritious meals in my kitchen. The Elio experience is a lot less stressful than either one of those procedures even though I am far more knowledgeable and experienced in both areas. I sincerely hope you can let go of your angst and enjoy the journey. It is a truly wonderful opportunity we are being given. I, for one, am celebrating it as it moves forward. Next year in our Elios! :) Z
AMEN, Can't wait :)

I too can be critical, but I seem to find that trait most in persons striving for perfection. Some times what seem to me to be "damn fool" questions or statements simply stem from a lack of knowledge on the part of the asker. I am a curious individual and constantly research subjects of interest or need. My professional life as a programmer/software engineer revolves around logic, and it is common for me to see that which is illogical (to me) in other persons ramblings. I have a tremendous and varied resource from life experience to draw from and am widely traveled 48 of 50 states and all continents except Australia and Antarctica, and some 40-50 countries, I will not contradict someone for the sake of argument, unless I know you well. Have I been wrong? YES and the one thing I am certain of is that I will be again, thosr times to me are a learning experience!

I'm Sooo wrong.. Elio will probably drive one out of the factory, park it in a vacant lot while they build, maybe in a strip mall while waiting for a vacany to remodel.. They could hire your mother in law for security, riding her horse between all 60 major markets keeping an eye on things, she could take all phone calls and do test drives while her horse rest.. Seems you have solved both problems solved , I get to test drive and you don't have to put up with your mother in law..
Sarcasm aside, I just can't see Elio even looking for places to set up suop until well into the first years production which will have been presold. Maybe 3-4 months into production they might begin to look at the top 5 to 10 markets, I cannot believe that we will see 60 stores in 60 cities open simultaneously. Could it happen, yes. Will it happen, from a marketing standpoint, I doubt it. I can see benefits from that kind grandeur, huge splash, national ads much publicity. On the other hand, I suspect this will be a growing process with the smallest of the 60 opening last. It just makes economic sense.

That would be fine with me however I want to test drive a stick and automatic model also sheck out one with options , rather compare a loaded vs base one before filling out a purchase order 60 days prior to build..I wrote elio about this concern two weeks ago, so far I haven't even gotten their famous "working on the details" standard response..

I would like to, too. Although I am not sure just how that might happen. A good question to pose to someone next Thursday in Okie City. See you there!
