Several people have asked me will you be able to tow an Elio with 3 wheels on the road? AMT or manual transmission? My searching has drawn a blank.
Thanks

Elio has responded with a yes on their Facebook page.
The manual and AMT are the same except that the AMT has servos to do the job of the shift lever and clutch pedal.

That is absolutely correct... we are talking only about the very next prototype that is currently under construction though.
MT transmissions have all but disappeared from the Military. Even on our larger trucks at work, there are no MT left anywhere. Not a single company vehicle has a MT anymore.
When I purchased a new car last year I do not remember seeing 1 MT on the lot.

It is amusing that so many people are having problems dealing with the concept that the P5 prototype will be set up like a base model.
Base model = manual transmission, radio, power door lock, power windows, heater, air conditioner.
No power seats. No heated seats. No cooled seats. No leather seats. No Climate control, No power moon roof. No cruise control. No Automatic transmission. No CD. No backup camera.
All of that stuff is optional at an extra cost.
So why would people think the P5 prototype would, or should have it?

I probably should have added ABS, Traction control, Air bags and that stuff.

Then you must not have been shopping at either Ford or Chevy... Mustangs and Camaros have always offered MTs! ;)

For what it's worth, in the missile fields, all our large vehicles are manuals.
