Seat Belts And Shoulder Harnesses

A fairly minor issue but one of my pet peeves is having the front seat shoulder harness that crosses the exit path for the rear seat passenger. What few photos I've seen of the interior it appears the shoulder harness is to the left of the drivers seat. On a car with normal side by side seating you're kind of stuck with the harnesses to the outboard of the seats but not with the Elio. I see no reason the belts and harnesses can't be anchored to the right of the seat. This small modification would make it far easier to enter and exit the rear seat. A small passenger could probably get in or out without the driver having to get out first. Any thoughts on this out in Elio land?

Maybe it's just me, seems to be lacking in most of the last 50 new threads.o_O JMO

May have a problem with the seat, window spacing on the right.

A small passenger could exit from the rear hatch so the driver didn't have to exit or remove their seatbelt. Sorry, I like this photo of Elio in Elio.

On a serious note, it's an excellent point. Whatever is the most functional, safe, and cost effective. Even Paul Elio has a sense of humor.

LOL When I lived in Germany, I drove a Ford Escort RS2000 with a five point harness. The car was used for road rally racing before I ended up with it. Also had a full roll cage. It was very dangerous. It made you feel invincible.:rolleyes:

Actually that is a very good point. I was not concerned about the seat belt since we did not drive it in Portland so I didn't notice how it was located. I believe there is a support panel between the none door window and the back window where it could be attached but I'm not sure. It will take some getting used to having it on the "wrong" side but once used to (say 2 or 3 uses at most) it shouldn't be a problem. This is one suggestion I highly recommend being forwarded to EM. The worst they can do is say no. :-) Z

EXCELLENT idea!!!!

But being the sort who HATES a seatbelt, and who is convinced that he most likely survived two very serious accidents BECAUSE he was NOT wearing a belt, I wonder if we might be exempt from wearing them because this is a "motorcycle"? Or will part of the "autocycle" trade off be mandatory wearing of a "death belt"?

(Sorry, maybe if I were ever in an accident where I thought they had saved my life I might feel more positively toward seatbelts!)
(IMHO the jury is still out on airbags as I've never been in a vehicle when they deployed)
