Heck, if somebody saw the new Elgin dash in the production model that may be the one feature that gets a hand in those deep pockets.

I've noticed that they haven't put an Elgin in the P4 .... that seems like a smart decision .... I have no doubt that they know installing it would probably leave an overall negative impression with many folks who see it at tour stops where they need it to make the best possible impression

Rucrayze, The 3k you talk about is big return. Way more than 50% on a 5k deposit and it will cut past elio's profit, leaving them with nothing for their efforts. Where would this money come from? I think another T-shirt would be fair. Don't forget elio had already forked back $500.00, one T-shirt and a wonderful expensive bumper sticker.
Smitty, The Fat Lady isn't done singing yet. Elio has more up his sleeves and I don't see him tossing in the towel. They are not broke YET. They only need the next block of financing and they are 'hail marying' for this block, at this auto show. All reports from the newspapers are glowing with positive reporting. I don't dare to second guess these guys, I believe they know what they are doing and they are doing it. If it don't work they will use the next plan, Which might involve us. I am trying the decide if I can justify the investment - gift - deposit to my own coffers. Wanting too isn't good enough here. How much can I afford to loose, is more the question. The $1000 dollars about 14,000 of us hit the send key on was chips on 16 black and spin the wheel. I think most of us understand that. Nothing much happens with out risk and someone has to take the risk. 41,000 of us took some risk at one level or another. The word investment has a lot of meanings.
I invested $1000 in PE dream. Knowing what I know now I would do it again anyway. It is a worth while dream even if it is a long shot.
In 1903 Harley was a long shot so was Ford.

It's the kind of new and unique feature that may appeal to people with deep pockets, I didn't say I liked it.

They have a small screen showing the Elgin in the cab of the P4 at the show.

I think that the Elgin dash is the only thing that sucks about this vehicle.
I realize it's the current consideration because of the electronics options.
But I'd be completely happy with the Metro dash that's currently in the vehicle.
I'm anticipating ordering my Elio bare-boned except for cruise control.
I spent quite a bit of time behind two of the Metro dashes. They're extremely user friendly.
Having said that, all I can do now is suck it up and try to "get" the "cool" factor of the Elgin.

the Elgin can be seen in post 807 on page 81 in the thread at this link .... I agree with the assessment given above

Problem is, the dash(es) G1 posted back in December don't look anything like the "virtual" dash on that screen at the NY show.
I remember someone posting full size images of what EM has on that screen a while back, but I have no idea of where to find them.

last picture in post 802 at the link above might be what you are thinking of .... we were shown the dash last December when the tour came to Charlotte .... in several pictures I've seen several images on the Skyz screen, none of which look like the Elgin to me .... what's the old saying about lipstick on a pig ?
