200 miles ain't bad range and by that time new battery technology could increase that to 300+. Tesla is also planning a quick and convenient recharge network. I only mention this because I hope by 2017 Elio has an EV Model with Frunk Space for extra storage where the little 3 cylinder engine used to be. Like you, Z, and all the other Elio Fans I will be very happy driving my 2015 Elio as is.

Nearest cities are Albuquerque, 230 miles away, and Tucson, AZ 260 miles west. A vehicle with a 200 mile range and 8+ hours charging time would be useless here in the desert

The range anxiety issue will be resolved or non-existent by the time I order my Elio EV. 8 Hrs? Full charge top off in 15 minutes during a coffee or pee stop and I make many of those. They say once you go electric you never go back I'm hoping my first EV to be the Lit C-1 in 2015, 2nd the Elio EV in 2017, and 3rd if I win the lotto Tesla. Obviously, EV's have to meet the individual customer needs, but they are the future. Elon Musk will probably have a network of cables buried under all the roadways or a giant satellite charging his EV's and my Elio EV wirelessly in 10 years. Fun, at least for me, to think about while waiting for the Elio.

The whole point in posting this article was to reiterate the position of the FTC. Not to start a discussion on the pros or cons of Mr. Musk's automobile. There just isn't any comparison. Elio rules!
