Interesting quote from Paul, towards the end, not for it's news-worthiness, just ... interesting:
"I predict that we will sell out the first-year's production before we make the first vehicle."
That's sort of a "duh" to us, yes? :-) And probably a goal for Elio Motors, one would think.
You can slide the scales back and forth to your liking... but we are at 27,000+ now, on track to be 39,000+ by end of '14... production estimates in the first year vary... and then the plan for now is around Sept 2015 for production to start. It's straight-forward, maybe even obvious (*gasp!*), that first-year will sell out before production starts. I think most of us agree that they will need to give that 30-day notice, I've read in various threads here, when reservations reach the number that Elio Motors feels they can crank out the first year. Example text from them: "Reservations will no longer be taken as of ______, as we have reached the number of reservations that we feel we can fulfill during the first year of production."
One variable that's been floating in the back of my mind for weeks now: fleet sales. I would not be surprised if EM has 'x' number of consumer vehicles and 'y' number of fleet vehicles = the first year of production.
Thoughts? Comments? Jabs? :-)
