CT,
Music, by it's very nature, does rely heavily on the use of talent and acquired skills. Skills that require years to hone.
Too much of a reach for me, to equate that with "Rap". IMHO I find it to be rather painful.
There are some rather skilled Hip-Hop folks though, must admit it.
Just saying!

Understood.
You ever see a professional DJ use a turntable and scratch? Very impressive. I wish I could do that!
Ever listen to someone free-style rap? (make up a rhyme on the fly)? Also impressive, but usually stinks musically, because the focus is the rhyme, not the music.
I'll admit, most rap is garbage, but I won't reject the style as a whole just yet.
Hip-hop on the other hand...
I really like the beats behind Toby Mac and DC Talk. Music is good and the lyrics are inspirational. I also like the old school rappers like Run DMC and the Beastie Boys. I'll even go further back to Dougie Fresh, but now I'm going waaaayyy back.
I love the hard thumping music. The kind that will raise the back wheel of a trike off the ground!
