I wish I had taken a picture, since it's obvious that people are having trouble believing me.
That said, I am willing to believe that the fenders turning with the wheels will help reduce the issue.

The front wheels on my smart have about 1" of clearance because of my oversized tires. It has NOT been a problem in 6 winters, not expecting it to be a problem in my Elio !!

"Durham, N.C. — Durham police say black ice was to blame for an 11-vehicle crash that happened Wednesday morning in the 3700 block of South Miami Boulevard.

Two people were injured. Neither suffered life-threatening injuries, but one man asked to be taken to a local hospital to be checked out."
